2D Location Concept Artist

Create concept art for environments and backgrounds, interpreting creative briefs and producing artwork within context, timeframes, and technical limitations. Develop and refine artwork from initial sketches to final polish, ensuring clear presentation. Offer creative alternatives, iterate on them, and establish expected styles. Communicate ideas using mood boards and storyboards. Collect references, perform competitive analysis, and develop research strategies under the Art Director's guidance. This role requires a strong understanding of form, color, lighting, composition, mechanics, and physics, along with excellent illustration and Photoshop skills.

Must Have

• 2+ years of experience as a 2D concept artist
• Strong understanding of form, color, lighting, composition
• Excellent illustration and Photoshop skills
• Good layout and visual sense of design
• Strong communication and self-management skills

Good to Have

• Matte painting experience
• Experience in creating character concept artwork
• Storyboard software like Sketchbook Pro
• Drawing and illustration of backgrounds

Create concept art to enable the visualization of environments and backgrounds

Interpret creative briefs and produce artwork that takes into account context, timeframes, and technical limitations.

Develop and refine artwork from initial sketch to final polish, ensuring it is well presented and defined.

Offer various creative alternatives and iterate on them throughout the project’s progression and to establish theexpected style for concepts.

Communicate ideas via mood board & story boards forreferences.

Collect and catalogue references, perform competitive analysis, and develop research strategies under the Art Director’s guidance.

Desired Profile:

Degree in BFA/MFA, Animation or equivalent, strong traditional art skills (preferred)

2+ years of experience in 2d concept artist (Matte painting experience is a plus!), experience in creating character concept artwork forrelative portfolio.

Very strong understanding of form, color, lighting, composition, mechanics, and physics

Excellent illustration and photoshop skills and storyboardsoftware like sketch bookpro

Good Layout and visual sense of design, drawing and illustrations of Backgrounds Design.

Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills.

Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and milestones.
