Job Description

SoundCloud is seeking a mid-level Accounting Manager to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for its German entities. This role involves preparing financial statements according to HGB and IFRS, managing GL accounts, coordinating with tax departments, and ensuring compliance with commercial law. The manager will also oversee intercompany processes, including transfer pricing and services, and develop an accounting manual. The position requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Good To Have:
  • Good German skills in speaking and writing (Level B1 preferred)

Must Have:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and IFRS for German entities
  • Analyze GL accounts and coordinate with the internal tax department regarding tax-relevant matters
  • Ensure proper bookkeeping in compliance with HGB/IFRS and adherence to tax and commercial law regulations
  • Act as point of contact for tax matters and tax audits in connection with annual financial statements/accounting
  • Possess knowledge of capitalizing internally generated intangible assets
  • Execute and review bookings, account reconciliations, and booking of provisions
  • Own intercompany matters (transfer pricing calculations, intercompany services, intercompany debts, transaction matrix preparation) and their accounting treatment
  • Set up and take ownership of an accounting manual/handbook
  • Completed degree in business administration or a comparable qualification, ideally with a focus on accounting/controlling
  • Several years of professional experience (at least 5–7 years) in accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or review role
  • In-depth knowledge of German commercial law (HGB) and IFRS
  • Experience in preparing financial statements (individual and, if applicable, consolidated financial statements)
  • Solid knowledge of ERP systems
  • Analytical and structured way of working, hands-on mentality, and high attention to detail

We are looking for a mid-level Accounting Manager to play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for our German entities. This position supports compliance with accounting and tax requirements, works closely with internal teams and auditors, and helps maintain strong financial controls. In this role, you will play a crucial role in overseeing intercompany processes and contribute to improving consistency and efficiency across our accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and IFRS for German entities
  • Analysis of GL accounts and coordination with the internal tax department regarding tax-relevant matters
  • Ensuring proper bookkeeping in compliance with HGB/IFRS as well as adherence to tax and commercial law regulations when recording business transactions
  • Point of contact for tax matters and tax audits in connection with annual financial statements/accounting, as well as for all business transactions (in German entities) with tax implications
  • Knowledge of capitalizing internally generated intangible assets
  • Execution and review of bookings, account reconciliations, and booking of provisions
  • Ownership of intercompany matters (transfer pricing calculations in close alignment with tax team, intercompany services, intercompany debts, transaction matrix preparation) and their accounting treatment
  • Setting up and taking ownership of an accounting manual/handbook

Background & Experience:

  • Good German skills in speaking and writing (Level B1 preferred)
  • Completed degree in business administration or a comparable qualification, ideally with a focus on accounting/controlling
  • Several years of professional experience (at least 5–7 years) in accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or review role
  • In-depth knowledge of German commercial law (HGB) and IFRS; experience in preparing financial statements (individual and, if applicable, consolidated financial statements)
  • Solid knowledge of ERP systems (preferred Oracle).
  • Analytical and structured way of working, hands-on mentality, and high attention to detail (ability to work with big data streams)
