The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team to drive business revenue growth within their designated area. This involves cultivating relationships with key merchants, overseeing sales operations, fostering collaboration with other departments, and ensuring seamless execution within the area. They also analyze market trends, pinpoint challenges, and establish strategic priorities. Additionally, the Area Sales Manager mentors and coaches the sales team in their area, ensures compliance, and works across functions to optimize merchant success.
Must Have:

  • Actively participate in Business Reviews to provide coaching and maintain relationships with Top Merchants.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all sales initiatives and processes.
  • Develop actionable short and long term plans to grow the business.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive and evolving City Narrative.
  • Provide assessment & feedback regarding capability gaps, create development plan for each team member.
  • Actively ensure discipline and compliance in the way their team works and create a succession plan.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a mid-to-senior management role.
  • Strong network and knowledge about the cities in the area.
  • Strong business sense and understanding of markets, customers, and competitors.
  • Excellence to bridge, develop and maintain good relationships with key partners.
  • Strong written & communication skills, fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experienced in managing a big team, as well as strong in people development and mentoring/coaching.
  • Fact-based/number-oriented individual, comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

About the Role

Additionally, the Area Sales Manager mentors and coaches the sales team in their area, ensures compliance, and works across functions to optimize merchant success.

What Will You Do

  • Reach sales and revenue growth within the assigned area.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key merchants in the assigned area to foster growth and mutual success by understanding their needs and challenges, and provide tailored solutions that drive sales and enhance their overall experience.
  • Actively participate in Business Reviews with Account Managers, Account Executive Leads, and Account Executive to provide coaching and maintain relationships with Top Merchants.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all sales initiatives and processes within the designated Area.
  • Develop actionable short and long term plans to grow the business by identifying and analyzing both short-term and long-term problems in the Area.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive and evolving City Narrative that serves as a strategic tool to identify, thoroughly understand, and monitor the multifaceted key issues, challenges, and opportunities that exist within the city in the designated area.
  • Provide assessment & feedback regarding capability gaps, create development plan for each team member.
  • Actively ensure discipline and compliance in the way their team works and create a succession plan.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a mid-to-senior management role—preferably within FMCG, SMB Banking, or Telecommunication companies.
  • Strong network and knowledge about the cities in the area.
  • Strong business sense and have a good understanding of the markets, customers, and competitors.
  • Excellence to bridge, develop and maintain good relationships with key partners, such as but not limited to local/regional government stakeholders, 3rd party partners, merchant associations, communities.
  • Strong written & communication skills, fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experienced in managing a big team, as well as strong in people development and mentoring/coaching.
  • Fact-based/number-oriented individual, who is comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
  • Preferably based in Palembang.

About the Team

The Area Sales Manager works under the direct supervision of the Area Senior Manager and collaborates closely with the Regional Sales Team on key projects. The team consists of Account Managers (AM), Account Executive Leads, and Account Executives (AE) who actively engage with merchants on the ground to understand real business conditions, strengthen relationships, and identify opportunities to drive sales performance and merchant growth within their designated areas.
