Job Description

We are seeking a highly competent, multidisciplinary Building Systems Subject Research Expert who unites deep architectural-standards knowledge with rigorous, system-level code expertise. Acting as the organisation’s central resource for worldwide building regulations, you will research, interpret, and operationalise codes and standards across all building disciplines—architecture, passive fire, weather-tightness, safety equipment, and full building envelopes. Embedded in fast-paced product-development teams, you will contribute to the compliance strategy that carries cutting edge products from concept through third-party testing, certification, and market launch.
Must have:
  • Monitor and analyse international codes and standards (NZBC, NCC, ICC, ASTM, ISO, EN) covering architectural, building envelope, fire-safety, and services domains.
  • Build and maintain a version-controlled, company-wide database of codes, compliance pathways, accepted solutions, and verification methods.
  • Identify compliance gaps early in the design life-cycle; recommend pragmatic, standards-compliant solutions or alternative verification routes.
  • Work with product owners, designers, engineers, and regulatory experts to deliver real-time, binding compliance guidance.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned projects, ensuring deliverables meet quality, schedule, and regulatory milestones.
  • Prepare concise, data-driven technical reports while using your extensive expertise to actively support product design teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Building Science, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in building-systems performance, code interpretation, and standards research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building envelope, passive fire, weather tightness, product testing/certification.
  • Deep working knowledge of NZBC, NCC, ICC, IBC, ASTM, ISO, and related international standards.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and technical-writing skills.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate within cross-functional, fast-paced teams and to work independently.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with BIM authoring/review tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and regulatory databases is an advantage.

What are you Going to do?
