Job Summary
Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions, designing and servicing equipment for chip and advanced display production. This role seeks an outstanding CAE Engineer to join the computational modeling group, specializing in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and plasma physics. The engineer will develop simulation models, analyze complex multi-species flow, thermal, and plasma environments, and collaborate with design and process engineers to enhance existing products and develop next-generation chambers and processes.
Must Have
- Develop simulation models for flow, heat transfer, plasma physics, chemical reactions, and electromagnetics
- Understand flow-thermal, chemistry, and plasma behavior in semiconductor processing equipment
- Perform engineering analysis and recommend design modifications
- In-depth knowledge of flow, heat transfer, chemical reactions, and plasma physics
- Experience with at least one programming language (Matlab, Python, C/C++)
Good to Have
- Experience with machine learning, statistics, and design of experiments
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes (CVD and ALD processes)
- Work experience in the semiconductor industry

Applied Materials’ is looking to recruit an outstanding engineer to support its computational modeling group specializing in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer and plasma physics. In this role, you will use state-of-the-art simulation tools to simulate complex multi-species flow, thermal and plasma environment in Applied Materials’ products and work closely with engineers across multiple business units to develop new solutions to difficult problems. You will work closely with design and process engineers to enhance existing products as well as play a key role in the development of next-generation chambers and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop simulation models to analyze problems related to flow, heat transfer, plasma physics, chemical reactions and electromagnetics
- Provide better understanding of flow-thermal, chemistry and plasma behavior during concept & feasibility, design and development of the semiconductor processing equipment.
- Perform engineering analysis. Recommend design modifications to improve chamber behavior to address technical/business needs.
- Work in a team environment. Present modeling results and recommendations to product and process development teams.
Functional Knowledge
- Must have in-depth knowledge of flow, heat transfer, chemical reactions and plasma physics
- Experience with at least one programming language (Matlab, Python, C/C++… )
- Experience with machine learning, statistics and design of experiments is a plus
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes (especially CVD and ALD processes) and work experience in semiconductor industry is plus
Education
Masters or PhD in Physics/Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical Engineering or related field
