Canadian Licensing Specialist

The Canadian Licensing Specialist, Regulatory Affairs, will perform technical licensing work in Canada, focusing on new reactor licensing for the BWRX-300 Advanced Nuclear Project, operating fleet licensing support, and customer plant support on GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) / Global Nuclear Fuels (GNF) nuclear methods. This role involves participating in nuclear regulatory reviews with the CNSC, preparing license application documentation (PSAR, POSAR, FSAR), and coordinating responses to regulators. The position requires a science or engineering degree and at least two years of experience in nuclear safety evaluations and Canadian regulatory standards.

Must Have

• Participate in nuclear regulatory review process with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for BWRX-300 mechanical systems and/or fuel.
• Support preparation and submittal of Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR), Pre-Operational Safety Analysis Report (POSAR) and Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) documentation.
• Support preparation and conduct of technical and licensing presentations to CNSC staff.
• Coordinate and prepare responses to the customer or regulator in safety analysis, reactor core design.
• Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline with a minimum of two years related professional work experience OR Master's Degree.
• Minimum of two years of experience performing or providing input into nuclear safety evaluations applicable to safety analysis at nuclear power plants.
• Experience in CNSC regulatory documents and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standards.

Good to Have

• Experience with Canada nuclear requirements and guidance.
• On-site nuclear reactor experience.
• Nuclear engineering or mechanical engineering degree, with experience in nuclear power plant operation.
• Working knowledge of boiling water reactor (BWR) systems, fuel, or operations.

Job Description Summary

The Canadian Licensing Specialist, Regulatory Affairs, based in Canada, will complete various technical licensing work scopes in Canada, including new reactor licensing for the BWRX-300 Advanced Nuclear Project, operating fleet licensing support, customer plant support on GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) / Global Nuclear Fuels (GNF) nuclear methods, and working with GVH / GNF Engineering and Regulatory Affairs teams on major projects in the areas of mechanical systems, balance of plant or fuels.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

As the Canadian Licensing Specialist, Regulatory Affairs, you will perform the following for GVH reactors to be deployed in Canada:

• Participate under the direction of the Canadian Technical Leader, Regulatory Affairs, in task associated with the nuclear regulatory review process with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) applicable to mechanical systems and/or fuel for the BWRX-300.
• Support preparation and submittal of Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR), Pre-Operational Safety Analysis Report (POSAR) and Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) documentation, and other license application documentation for BWRX-300 license application activities in accordance with CNSC regulatory requirements and guidelines and with input from the GVH BWRX-300 Project Team.
• Support preparation and conduct of technical and licensing presentations to CNSC staff regarding BWRX-300 license applications and coordinate and prepare responses to the customer or regulator in the areas of safety analysis, reactor core design and other applicable areas.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with a minimum of two (2) years related professional work experience OR Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing or providing input into nuclear safety evaluations applicable to safety analysis at nuclear power plants, including experience in CNSC regulatory documents and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standards.

Eligibility Requirements

• For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
• This position will report onsite to the Markham office 2 days a week (Tuesday's and Thursday's).
