Job Summary
The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) supports individuals in recovery from substance use disorders by offering encouragement, understanding, and hope. This role often uses lived experience to help others stay engaged in recovery and work toward long-term success. You will work with patients going through withdrawal and rehab, interacting with all medical and administrative personnel in our center. Key responsibilities include providing support, serving as a positive role model, sharing recovery education, promoting relapse prevention, and fostering a recovery-focused environment.
Must Have
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS)
- Provide support, encouragement, and motivation to individuals in recovery
- Serve as a positive role model, mentor, and advocate
- Share recovery education and connect clients to helpful resources
- Help promote relapse prevention and long-term stability
- Support a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment
Good to Have
- Prior experience with recovery in a behavioral health facility (SMHRF or ICF) is ideal

Our center:
Bourbonnais Terrace is a Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility (SMHRF) that has 147 beds and provides psychological rehab treatment to individuals seeking to recover from their illness or chemical dependency. The Administrator often says, “Our focus is recovery and rehabilitation” while we prepare our residents to return home and to the community.
Location: The center is 2 miles from I-57 and just down the street from Snowbarger Athletic Park (& the former Bears Training Camp). It’s an easy commute.
