The FIX Operations position is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and supporting electronic trading connections for clients using the Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocol. Responsibilities include configuring new/existing connections and troubleshooting issues with clients and brokers on connectivity. This role requires knowledge of financial products, strong technical knowledge of the FIX Protocol, and client-facing skills to ensure smooth and efficient trading operations.
1. Discuss with clients and brokers to set up new FIX connections.
2. Communicate with client counterparties and serve as an escalation point as needed.
3. Work on products and algo certification projects related to FIX setups.
4. Certify new brokers to ensure they meet performance and technical standards.
5. Manage the migration of existing connections from older systems to newer ones.
6. Accurate and timely reporting of project status on JIRA.
7. Provide day-to-day support on broker connections and second-line support on FIX connectivity.
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial math or related field.
2. Must have worked in financial services and investment technology: buy-side (OMS, EMS, IMS) or sell-side.
3. 2-5 years of experience with the FIX Protocol is a MUST, liaising with global business and technology teams.
4. In-depth knowledge of the FIX Protocol and experience with client-facing and production support activities.
5. Experience with Algo ATDL XML files and certifications.
6. Knowledge of asset classes such as equities, listed derivatives, and OTC products.
7. Strong knowledge of the order life cycle of various instruments and products.
8. Strong client services skills demonstrated by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, prioritize urgent matters, and work independently.
