Job Summary

As a College Intern in Lightweight Material Evaluation at HP, you will assist senior Material engineers in designing, testing, and validating notebook PC chassis and systems. Responsibilities include prototyping support, troubleshooting material/reliability issues, collecting and analyzing test data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will also conduct market research on lightweight material technologies and engage in continuous learning, with a possible project on composite material evaluation for lightweight design.

Must Have

  • Assist senior Material engineers in the design, testing, and validation of notebook PC chassis and systems.
  • Participate in the prototyping of notebook chassis design, helping to assemble and configure test units.
  • Diagnose material or reliability issues in notebook PCs, assisting with problem resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Collect and analyze test data, generating reports and presenting findings to the engineering team.
  • Work closely with TWN material lab, mechanical, and material engineering teams to ensure cohesive product development.
  • Conduct research on lightweight material technologies and trends to support innovation in notebook PC design.
  • Able to commit full-time for a 5-6 months internship, starting in January 2026.
  • Preference for Mechanical Engineering or Material Science students.
  • Familiarity with the basic structure of Notebook PC design and material strength knowledge.

Job Description

What a College Intern – Lightweight Material Evaluation does at HP:
