Community Manager / Lead

Gym Class is the top-rated social sports game on Meta Quest. We are hiring a founding Community Manager to design, test, and scale programs that grow and engage our player base. You will be the expert on community-driven growth, owning Discord and the Creator Program, keeping our community energized, engaged, and growing. This role is for someone who thrives on building scalable processes from scrappy experiments, loves being in the trenches with players and creators, and wants to shape how millions connect through Gym Class.

Must Have

• Drive growth and retention through Creator Program, Discord, and grassroots experiments.
• Launch scrappy experiments, gather learnings, and systematize into repeatable programs.
• Increase active communicators and create eventful social moments on Discord.
• Recruit and partner with content creators, run events, and design programs to amplify their reach and impact.
• Guide contracted community developers and a tools intern to scale programs and build automations.
• Treat community like a product surface: form hypotheses, test, track KPIs, and double down on what works.
• Advise the team on how to build for and with the community, ensuring player needs inform product direction.
• 3–6+ years building and scaling engaged online communities (gaming, Discord, creators, or similar).
• Designed and run programs that started small but grew into scalable systems.
• Hypothesis-driven; run experiments, analyze results, and refine quickly.
• Deep knowledge of Discord culture, bots, and best practices for engagement at scale.
• Comfortable working with streamers, hosting events, and being a community-facing presence.
• Skilled with AI tools to prototype and automate systems, Google Sheets, Zapier, and bots.

Gym Class is the top rated social sports game on Meta Quest - millions of downloads, 79,000+ reviews, and a 4.9-star rating. We’re hiring our founding Community Manager to design, test, and scale the programs that grow and engage our player base.

You’ll be the expert on community-driven growth: driving core community programs, experimenting to learn what works and what the community needs most, and then scaling it with systems, automations, and our community squad. You’ll own our Discord and Creator Program (driven >1 billion views) as the heartbeat of Gym Class outside the game, keeping our community energized, engaged, and growing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Grow the community: Drive growth and retention through our Creator Program, Discord, and grassroots experiments.
• Prototype → Scale: Launch scrappy experiments (e.g. ranked tournaments, live events, Discord activations, Creator Program optimizations and incentives), gather learnings, then systematize into repeatable programs.
• Make Discord thrive: Increase active communicators, create eventful social moments, and ensure power users feel energized and connected.
• Empower creators: Recruit and partner with content creators, run events with them, and design programs that amplify their reach and impact. This program is mature and ready to take off further, garnering over 1 billion views across social platforms.
• Lead contractors & tools: Guide contracted community developers and a tools intern to scale programs, build automations, and run specialized initiatives.
• Build community like product: Treat community like a product surface - form hypotheses, test them, track KPIs, and double down on what works.
• Be the expert: Advise the whole team on how to build for and with our community, ensuring player needs inform product direction.

QUALIFICATIONS - you are…

• Community-first: 3–6+ years building and scaling engaged online communities (gaming, Discord, creators, or similar).
• Grassroots builder: You’ve designed and run programs that started small but grew into scalable systems.
• Growth-minded: Hypothesis-driven; you run experiments, analyze results, and refine quickly.
• Discord native: Deep knowledge of Discord culture, bots, and best practices for engagement at scale.
• Creator-friendly: Comfortable working with streamers, hosting events, and even being a community-facing presence yourself.
• Automation-savvy: Skilled with AI tools to prototype and automate systems, Google Sheets, Zapier, and even bots.
• High-agency: Entrepreneurial, scrappy, and ready to run with problems without waiting for permission.
