Job Description

Filevine is seeking a California Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) to join their reporter marketplace team in a leadership capacity. This role involves traditional stenographic work combined with supervisory, training, and quality oversight responsibilities. The successful candidate will serve as an expert reporter and the authority on California court reporting requirements, managing staff, overseeing operations, and ensuring transcript accuracy and compliance. The position offers an opportunity to shape standards for a modern, tech-enabled deposition and court reporting experience within a fast-growing technology company.
Must Have:
  • Capture depositions, hearings, and legal proceedings, producing accurate, verbatim transcripts.
  • Use CAT software and digital audio tools to scope, proofread, and finalize transcripts.
  • Lead quality assurance by auditing transcripts, schedules, and workflows.
  • Provide feedback, training, and onboarding support to strengthen team performance.
  • Drive strategic planning by developing staffing models and overseeing recruitment.
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement process improvements.
  • Current California Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license.
  • In-depth knowledge of California procedural rules, legal terminology, and transcript formatting standards.
  • Significant experience in court reporting, with proven supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with CAT software (e.g., Case CATalyst, Eclipse) and digital audio review tools.

California Managing Court Reporter in Charge

We’re seeking a Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) licensed in California to join our fast-moving reporter marketplace team in a leadership capacity. This role blends traditional stenographic work with supervisory, training, and quality oversight responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape standards for a modern, tech-enabled deposition and court reporting experience.

You’ll serve both as an expert reporter and as the go-to authority on California court reporting requirements—managing staff, overseeing operations, and ensuring that every transcript meets the highest accuracy and compliance standards.

What You'll Do

  • Capture depositions, hearings, and legal proceedings in a certified stenographic capacity, producing accurate, verbatim transcripts.
  • Use CAT software and digital audio tools to scope, proofread, and finalize transcripts that meet California court reporting standards.
  • Lead quality assurance by auditing transcripts, schedules, and workflows for accuracy, consistency, and compliance; provide feedback, training, and onboarding support to strengthen team performance.
  • Drive strategic planning by developing staffing models, overseeing recruitment, and aligning resources to ensure coverage of all proceedings.
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement long-term process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and overall reporting quality.

What you Bring

  • Current California Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license (required).
  • In-depth knowledge of California procedural rules, legal terminology, and transcript formatting standards.
  • Significant experience in court reporting, with proven supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with CAT software (e.g., Case CATalyst, Eclipse) and digital audio review tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote or hybrid environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.A collaborative mindset with a commitment to upholding the highest professional standards.
  • Comfort with a mix of live proceedings, remote work, and operational oversight.
