Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead and own data architecture for analytical solutions within the Retail Division. This strategic role involves collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape and evolve the Retail Data Strategy, staying attuned to emerging technologies, and driving innovation. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Enterprise Data Model, defining data principles, and chairing data design forums to ensure alignment with business objectives and technology strategy.

Must Have

  • Lead and own the data architecture for analytical solutions within the Retail Division.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and subject matter experts to shape and evolve the Retail Data Strategy.
  • Stay attuned to emerging technologies and market trends, identifying opportunities to enhance data capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) for LGRI, leveraging industry best practice or standards.
  • Develop and own the data layer of the reference architecture, providing insight and guidance for all data related design activities.
  • Proactively engage and support key stakeholders in strategic planning processes.
  • Develop, plan and maintain the technology LGRI enterprise data strategy supporting business data outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain roadmaps whilst influencing key areas of technology architecture.
  • Collaboratively develop, define and standardise the key high-level data principles, methodologies and data standards.
  • Establish a governance framework to enable application of data principles.
  • Chair the data design delivery forum ensuring data delivery decisions align with business need and strategy.
  • Liaise and participate in Data-related groups and governance forums across the L&G Group.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead and own the data architecture for analytical solutions within the Retail Division. In this strategic role, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and subject matter experts to shape and evolve the Retail Data Strategy in alignment with broader business objectives.

You will stay attuned to emerging technologies and market trends, identifying opportunities to enhance data capabilities and introduce more efficient, scalable ways of working that drive innovation and value across the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and maintaining the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) for LGRI, leveraging industry best practice or standards to ensure interoperability as appropriate. Develop and own the data layer of the reference architecture, providing insight and guidance for all data related design activities
  • Proactively engaging and supporting key stakeholders in strategic planning processes and provide the information and insight required for effective decision making relating to data.
  • Developing, planning and maintaining the technology LGRI enterprise data strategy supporting business data outcomes. Develop and maintain roadmaps whilst influencing key areas of technology architecture to support the execution of these. Monitor and report progress against the implementation of the data strategy
  • Collaboratively develop, define and standardise the key high-level data principles, methodologies and data standards relating to data in the LGRI division. Establish a governance framework to enable application.
  • Chairing the data design delivery forum ensuring that data delivery decisions are taken in-line with business need and technology/data strategy principles. Support data related design activities in projects leveraging industry best practice knowledge and drive alignment to strategic direction or business needs of a project
  • Liaising and participating in Data-related groups and governance forums across the L&G Group to share data architecture expertise, knowledge and best practice to support defining organisation wide data strategies and standards as well as ensuring ongoing alignment on data related activities

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Holding cloud certifications in Azure or AWS, or demonstrating equivalent industry experience in cloud technologies and architecture
  • Understanding the full software development lifecycle, with practical experience in designing and delivering complex, large-scale solutions
  • Applying Agile principles effectively, with hands-on experience in iterative development and cross-functional collaboration
  • Demonstrating knowledge of information security standards, ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, and aligned with best practices
  • Implementing data governance methodologies, with experience in managing data quality, lineage, and compliance across enterprise systems
  • Evaluating emerging technologies, staying ahead of innovation trends and identifying opportunities to enhance solution design and delivery
  • Collaborating with senior stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions and influencing strategic direction
  • Using modern data tools, including Snowflake, DBT, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse, to build scalable and efficient data solutions
