Job Description

PayPay, a fintech company launched in 2018, has grown to over 70 million users in about 7 years, with a diverse team from 50+ countries. We leverage AI and data to drive rapid service development and business growth. The Data Strategy Department aims to maximize data value creation by strengthening data governance, enabling business units to confidently launch new initiatives. We are seeking a professional to accelerate cross-organizational data utilization while ensuring proper governance for our vast data.
Good To Have:
  • Basic knowledge of statistical thinking and data science (hypothesis testing, regression analysis, A/B testing, etc.)
  • Practical skills in any data analysis language such as SQL, Python, R
  • Experience using cloud data platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
  • Experience using BI tools and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge and practical experience of web systems, etc. to understand data structures
  • Work experience in a company or department specializing in data analysis
  • Experience in medium to large-scale project management across multiple organizations
  • Experience in planning data utilization in the digital marketing domain
  • Experience in planning inter-company data utilization (data linkage) including global and inter-group
  • Experience in planning business processes for data utilization (data management using tools, approval process improvement, etc.)
  • Business English proficiency
Must Have:
  • Experience in data analysis and data utilization strategy planning or promotion (3+ years)
  • Problem-solving, strategic thinking, and hypothesis design ability
  • Experience proactively leading projects
  • Experience reporting to management and proposing strategies based on data
  • Knowledge and experience regarding the Personal Information Protection Law

Mission of the Data Strategy Department

PayPay, with over 70 million users, is a data-driven company. In a company where data utilization is commonplace, the Data Strategy Department's mission is to "maximize data value creation." We will strengthen data governance from both offensive and defensive perspectives, creating an environment where business divisions can confidently and quickly launch new offensive measures.

Background of Recruitment

Until now, each business division at PayPay has been rapidly expanding its services. While data utilization has been routinely carried out at the service and departmental level, there is an increasing need to utilize data across services and the PayPay financial group. This recruitment seeks individuals who can join us in the challenge of accelerating cross-organizational data utilization while ensuring appropriate governance for our vast data.

About the Role

Depending on your aptitude, you will be responsible for some of the following tasks:

  • Planning, consideration, and promotion of company-wide data utilization strategies
  • Planning and management of data utilization infrastructure development between group companies
  • Planning and management of machine learning model development for company-wide use
  • Discovery of data utilization issues and proposal of solutions
  • Planning and operation of data science talent communities
  • Planning and implementation of user communication related to privacy
  • Development of various regulations and rules related to data
  • Administrative work related to the transfer of personal information for third-party provision and joint use
  • Risk assessment from a data governance perspective in various projects

Major Past Projects

  • DMBOK introduction and implementation project
  • Company-wide data management improvement planning and promotion
  • Inter-group data linkage planning and promotion
  • Internal analysis activity support
  • Planning and operation of data activity communities
  • Establishment of internal personal information management system

Required Experience/Skills

  • Experience in data analysis and data utilization strategy planning or promotion at a business company or consulting firm (3 years or more)
  • Problem-solving, strategic thinking, and hypothesis design ability
  • Experience proactively leading projects
  • Experience reporting to management and proposing strategies based on data
  • Knowledge and experience regarding the Personal Information Protection Law

Desirable Experience/Skills

Work Location

  • Hybrid Workstyle (office, home, or satellite office for remote work)
  • *Please note: You will be required to come to the office/work remotely according to the rules of your affiliated organization and work instructions. Use of satellite offices is subject to the rules of your affiliated department.*

Working Hours

  • Super flex-time system (no core time)
  • Principle: 9:00 AM - 5:45 PM (7 hours 45 minutes actual work + 1 hour break)

Holidays

  • Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, and company-designated days
