Database DevOps Engineer - Online Games

Join InnoGames' agile engineering team to advance their data-driven success. This role involves working on large-scale ETL processes within Hadoop, cloud platforms, and SQLServer-based BI environments to make data accessible company-wide. Key responsibilities include maintaining BI environments, providing data self-service via PowerBI and legacy tools, managing Azure Fabric, Power BI, and Google Cloud Platform, processing nearly 2 billion daily events, and scaling the Hadoop-based data warehouse with the Data Mining team.

Must Have

• Maintain BI environment (cloud platforms, Microsoft SQLServer based Business Intelligence)
• Ensure reliable operation of BI services by monitoring system health and managing data pipelines
• Provide company-wide self-service access to data through PowerBI, SSRS, and SSAS
• Manage Azure Fabric and Power BI environments alongside Google Cloud Platform
• Oversee capacity and costs, administer users and security, automate operations with Airflow
• Continuously optimize cloud spending

• Five years of professional experience in Database DevOps Engineering, software development or Data Engineering
• Strong background in Python or Java
• Experience working with Big Data Cloud Services such as GCP
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and Microsoft Fabric
• Extensive knowledge of SQL (preferably T-SQL or HiveQL)
• Experience with Big Data technologies, ideally with the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., Hive, HDFS, YARN, Tez)
• Knowledge of MS SQLServer administration and live operations
• Excellent English skills in both spoken and written form

Join our agile, cross-functional engineering team to push InnoGames’ data-driven success story forward. You will work on large-scale ETL processes in our Hadoop ecosystem, cloud platforms and SQLServer based BI environments with the goal of making our data accessible to the whole company.

Your mission

• Maintain BI environment. Extend and maintain our cloud platforms and Microsoft SQLServer based Business Intelligence environment. Ensuring reliable operation of our BI services by monitoring system health, managing key data pipelines and PowerBI processes, and responding quickly to critical alerts.
• Data self-service. Provide company-wide self-service access to our data through PowerBI, as well as our legacy reporting stack (SSRS and SSAS).
• Cloud Platform Management. Manage our Azure Fabric and Power BI environments alongside Google Cloud Platform by overseeing capacity and costs, administering users and security, automating operations with Airflow, and continuously optimizing cloud spending.
• Process Big Data. You'll also have the opportunity to work on ETL jobs to process nearly 2,000,000,000 daily events from our various data-providing systems like games, payment, and marketing tools.
• Scale data warehouse. Last but not least, you’ll help scale and further develop our Hadoop-based data warehouse in close collaboration with our Data Mining team, using HiveQL and modern Big Data technologies such as Airflow, Superset, Tez, and more.

Your skill set

• Professional experience. You have five years of professional experience in Database DevOps Engineering, software development or Data Engineering with a strong background in Python or Java.
• Big Data Cloud Services. You have experience working with Big Data Cloud Services such as GCP and want to learn more.
• Microsoft Azure Cloud Services. You bring practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and Microsoft Fabric since these are core to our Power BI and data platform strategy.
• Big Data focus. You have extensive knowledge of SQL (preferably T-SQL or HiveQL) and enjoy working with large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
• Technical background. You have already gained experience with Big Data technologies, ideally with the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., Hive, HDFS, YARN, Tez), regardless of whether it’s Bigtop, Cloudera, or any other distribution.
• SQLServer operations. You know your way around MS SQLServer administration and live operations such as performance monitoring, backup and recovery, and capacity management.
• Teamwork. You desire to learn new technologies, confidently share your knowledge with the team, and also like to share a good laugh with your colleagues.

For this position, the salary range is between € 75,000 - 96,000 gross on senior-level. On regular-level the range is at € 58,000 - 75,000 gross. Your seniority level (junior, regular, senior) will be evaluated during the interview process.
