eBay is seeking a Director, People Business Partner to lead the People strategy for its rapidly expanding Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru, India. This role involves partnering with the VP, India Site Leader and Global Technology leadership to shape organizational growth, talent strategy, and culture. The Director will drive organizational transformation, leadership effectiveness, and scalable People infrastructure, acting as a strategic thought partner and hands-on operator. This is a unique opportunity to build the eBay brand externally, define People strategy, and foster a high-performance workplace within a strategic global hub.
Must Have:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to VP, India GCC, coaching and guiding them to maximize leadership effectiveness and impact.
  • Partner with global technical business leaders to design organizations of the future, assessing capabilities and developing actionable plans.

  • Drive organization design and change initiatives that enable innovation, scalability, and operational excellence.

  • Strengthen the leadership pipeline through executive coaching, succession planning, and capability-building programs.
  • Partner with global Legal and People Operations teams to ensure compliance with Indian labor laws and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with global Centers of Excellence and regional People Business Partners to deliver consistent and scalable HR programs.
  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior People Business Partner or HR leadership roles.
  • Deep understanding of India labor law, HR compliance, and cultural dynamics of leading People strategy in India within a global context.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives, drive alignment across complex, matrixed environments, and execute with precision.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, and the ability to translate business priorities into actionable People strategies.

About The Team And The Role

We are seeking a stellar Director, People Business Partner (PBP) to lead the People strategy for our rapidly expanding Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru, India. As a key member of eBay’s Global People Team, this role partners closely with the VP, India Site Leader and Global Technology leadership, playing a critical role in shaping organizational growth, talent strategy, and culture across one of eBay’s most strategic global hubs. This role is based in Bengaluru and is expected to be in the office four days a week.

Reporting to the Senior Director, People Business Partner for Global Technology (based in the United States), this leader will act as both a strategic thought partner and a hands-on operator, driving organizational transformation, leadership effectiveness, and scalable People infrastructure to enable eBay’s technology innovation and global expansion.

As the first HR leader within a Global Capability Center environment, this individual will have the unique opportunity to build and represent the eBay brand externally, defining the People strategy, shaping culture, and creating the foundation for a thriving, high-performance workplace that supports eBay’s global growth ambitions.

What You Will Accomplish

Strategic Leadership and Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to VP, India GCC, coaching and guiding them to maximize leadership effectiveness and impact.
  • Partner with global technical business leaders to design organizations of the future—assessing capabilities, identifying gaps, and developing actionable plans that enable agility and sustainable growth.
  • Provide strategic counsel on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy to ensure alignment with global priorities and local market dynamics.
  • Act as a thought partner on leadership development and change management, ensuring the organization can deliver on ambitious strategic goals.
  • Use strong business acumen and analytical insight to shape decisions in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, and dynamic environment.

Organizational Effectiveness and Growth

  • Drive organization design and change initiatives that enable innovation, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead workforce planning and talent forecasting to ensure the right capabilities are in place to achieve business goals.
  • Implement frameworks that strengthen decision-making, leadership accountability, and performance management across teams.
  • Anticipate future organizational needs and design strategies to build high-performing, future-ready teams.

Culture, Engagement, and Inclusion

  • Champion eBay’s culture and values, fostering an environment of trust, inclusion, and empowerment.
  • Design and deliver engagement strategies that build belonging and enhance employee experience across diverse teams.
  • Partner with Employee Resource Groups and global diversity, inclusion and belonging leaders to scale inclusion initiatives that reflect both local and global perspectives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and high performance across the Bengaluru GCC and broader technology organization.

Talent Strategy and Leadership Development

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and Talent Management to build and execute integrated people strategies.
  • Strengthen the leadership pipeline through executive coaching, succession planning, and capability-building programs.
  • Drive talent development initiatives that promote career mobility, professional growth, and leadership readiness.
  • Serve as a catalyst for leadership excellence, ensuring the organization has the talent and capability to meet future challenges.

Employee Relations and Compliance

  • Partner with global Legal and People Operations teams to ensure compliance with Indian labor laws and internal policies.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and respect through proactive communication and employee advocacy.
  • Ensure that local practices uphold eBay’s ethical standards and support a positive, compliant workplace.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with global Centers of Excellence (COEs) and regional People Business Partners to deliver consistent and scalable HR programs.
  • Represent the Bengaluru site in global People Team forums, ensuring local insights inform enterprise-wide talent strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement across HR processes, systems, and practices to enable operational excellence and business impact.

What You Will Bring
