Responsibilities & Opportunities
Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
Develop, organize, administer, and maintain the Company’s Environmental Health & Safety Program. Minimize the number and reduce the severity of in-plant accidents and injuries while maintaining the efficiency of the Corporation and the well-being of its employees and customers, as well as the community. The EH&S Program must comply with all federal, state, corporate and international policies and procedures. The EH&S Program must be goal-oriented and driven towards continuous improvement.
Specific Responsibilities:
Environmental, Health & Safety Program management:
- Act as the authority in all areas of Environmental, Health & Safety, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
- Keep Management apprised of developments in federal and state EH&S laws and regulations.
- Develop, organize, administer, and track corporate Safety Training Programs. Implement and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual training programs.
- Integrate all Corporate and Regional Environmental, Health & Safety programs into daily operations.
- Work with corporate- and facility-level teams to assure that new or modified processes equipment is designed to ergonomic standards and meets regulatory requirements.
- Communicate safety-related issues through memos, reporting metrics, safety newsletters, on-site meetings, and through the disbursement of relevant publications.
- Submit monthly and yearly State and Federal EH&S reports
- Maintain ISO and 14001 Programs
Maintain the Injury and Illness Tracking Programs.
- Manage programs such as GENSUITE Compliance Manager to ensure legal compliance with all EH&S applicable internal requirements and local and federal regulations and rules.
- Lead all Near Miss, and Accident Investigation root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Establish targets and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
- Work with the Human Resources Department Workman's Compensation team to reduce costs associated with lost time injuries and assist in developing return to work program.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, industrial or chemical engineering, or related field.
- 3 years professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Professional Health & Safety status (ASP, CSP, CIH, CHSP, CHMM, etc.) preferred
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Knowledge of the following areas; EPA, RCRA, DPCC, CRTK, Air Permits, Hazardous Waste Biennial Reporting, OSHA, DOT, EPA Form R, ISO and IATF Standards
- Proven experience driving safety improvements on the shop floor, in the offices and as part of the Leadership team.
