Job Description

As an Environment Generalist, you'll create high-level, diverse 3D environments for live-action VFX. Responsibilities include assessing efficient methodologies (from 2.5D matte painting to full 3D builds), acquiring reference materials, integrating imagery, maintaining consistent lighting/perspective/color, using photography/practical/digital skills, revising work based on feedback, and providing/receiving artistic/technical direction. You'll work on feature films and television projects, utilizing software like 3ds Max, Maya, Houdini, Substance, and Photoshop.
Must have:
  • 3+ years' experience as Digital Matte Painter or Environment Artist
  • Proficiency in 3D (3ds Max, Maya, Houdini) and 2D (Substance, Photoshop) software
  • Strong matte painting & 2.5D projection skills
  • Ability to integrate imagery, maintain lighting consistency
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Good to have:
  • ZBrush, Gaea, SpeedTree knowledge
  • Compositing and scripting experience

As an Environment Generalist, you will be responsible for creating high-level and diverse 3D environments for use in live-action VFX.

Key Responsibilities/ 담당업무

    • Assess the most efficient methodology per environment brief
    • Approaches will vary from a 2.5D Matte Painting projection setups, through full 3D asset builds
    • Provide and acquires photographic reference materials
    • Perform tasks related to integrating imagery into shots and preserving a unified sense of lighting, perspective, and color
    • Use photography, practical, and digital skills to create 3D environments
    • Revise work based on client and supervisor feedback in a timely manner
    • Provide and receives artistic and technical direction

    • 레퍼런스로 사용할 수 있는 자료를 검색하고 제시할 수 있는 분 
    • 이미지를 샷에 통합하고, 통일된 느낌의 라이팅, 원근법 및 색상을 유지하며 작업하실 수 있는 분
    • 사진, 실용 및 디지털 기술을 활용하여 3D 환경을 생성하실 수 있는 분
    • 클라이언트 및 슈퍼바이저의 피드백에 맞게 작업이 가능하신 분 
    • 예술적, 기술적 방향성을 잘 이해하고 때에 따라 방향성을 제시할 수 있는 분

Qualifications/ 채용조건과 우대조건

    • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience as a Digital Matte Painter or Environment Artist for live-action feature and/or television
    • Strong understanding of 3D packages including 3ds Max, Maya and Houdini and 2D/Shading packages such as Substance and Adobe Photoshop
    • Knowledge of supplementary software including ZBrush, Gaea, and SpeedTree also strongly recommended
    • Strong Matte Painting and 2.5D projection skills are necessary for an env/dmp role
    • Compositing and scripting experience is a plus
    • Strong willingness to grow, learn new methods & tools, and share knowledge with others
    • Ability to work and solve technical issues independently
    • Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills and an open mind
    • Team player able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
