Position Summary:
The Lead Accountant at the Global Accounting Operations Center (GAOC) serves as a strategic partner within Qualcomm’s Controllership Team, leading global closing and reporting activities. This role is responsible for driving excellence in General Accounting, Treasury, Receivables, Cash & Banking, Payments, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and more. The Lead Accountant leverages and experienced in AI, automation, analytics, and audit technologies to optimize accounting operations, ensure financial integrity, and support forward-thinking business initiatives. The ideal candidate will champion intelligent process enhancements and adopt data-driven insights to transform finance operations at scale.
Core AI-Driven Finance and Accounting Responsibilities
- Lead US GAAP general accounting using advanced AI tools and automation platforms to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all entries and documentation.
- Oversee month-end close, including journal preparation, posting, ledger and trial balance review, and variance analysis, utilizing AI for process optimization and meeting business deadlines.
- Maintain and analyze the general ledger, applying analytics and AI-driven tools for revenue and cost recognition; perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations per Qualcomm policy.
- Act as a subject matter expert for designated accounts, providing insight through automated analysis and reporting.
- Prepare and remediate quarterly balance sheet analyses using AI-powered review solutions.
- Deliver timely HQ and ad hoc reports, leveraging automation for accuracy and efficiency.
- Recommend, design, and implement improvements to ledger systems and workflows, emphasizing automation and AI-assisted standardization.
- Support local controllership during audits with automated documentation and compliance in local GAAP and international accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, integrating AI-driven control and monitoring where possible.
- Maintain a flexible approach to additional duties, encouraging adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Reviews and approve journal entries posted by team members
- Reviews and approve balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly reporting schedules prepared by team members
- The candidate should be an individual contributor and should be handling few team members as well
- Ensure that all processes and policies are compliant with Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements
- Besides the main tasks and responsibilities listed above, responsible for completing any other tasks assigned by her/his supervisor or manager

- Automation & Process Optimization: Lead the deployment of RPA and AI-based workflow solutions to streamline and innovate accounting operations.
- AI & Machine Learning: Utilize artificial intelligence for forecasting, anomaly detection, and process enhancements across all accounting cycles.
- Advanced Analytics: Employ analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel) for data interpretation and decision support, integrating AI tools for deeper insights.
- Audit Excellence: Deliver audit-ready documentation and support, incorporating AI for SOX, IFRS, and process design.
- AI-Integrated Qualifications & Requirements
- CPA or Chartered Accountant degree in Finance/Accounting, with 8+ years’ experience in a multi-GAAP, shared service environment.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle and SAP GA modules, and demonstrated ability to leverage ERP and AI solutions.
- Exceptional English communication skills, with emphasis on presenting analytics and AI-derived insights.
- Proven ability to learn and adapt to new standards, processes, and technologies rapidly, especially in AI and automation.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities; detail-oriented and skilled at data-driven decision-making.
- Flexible, collaborative, and innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement through technology.
- Professional interpersonal skills; effective communicator and team player in a technology-driven environment.
- Comfortable achieving results against quantitative and qualitative performance metrics, utilizing automation where possible.
- Advanced IT skills, including Excel and Outlook, plus experience in AI and analytics platforms.
- Experience in a large multinational company preferred.
- Preferred: CPA certification and demonstrated proficiency in AI-driven Record-to-Report (R2R) activities.

Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree.
- 6+ years of Finance, Accounting, or related work experience.
