Job Description

Nine, Australia’s largest locally owned media company, is seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join its Group Financial Control team. This role involves supporting the Senior Financial Accountant and Group Financial Controller, focusing on accurate and timely execution of accounting processes, supporting consolidation, and ensuring financial data integrity for reporting and compliance. The successful candidate will contribute to month-end close, financial statement preparation, technical accounting research, policy maintenance, and process improvements.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with ERP systems (especially Microsoft Dynamics 365) is highly regarded.
Must Have:
  • Execute key month-end close and consolidation procedures, ensuring timely and accurate Group financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the half-yearly and full-year consolidated financial statements.
  • Research and prepare technical accounting papers to document the Group’s position for complex accounting issues.
  • Monitor, interpret and communicate changes in accounting standards and maintain Group-wide financial policies.
  • Provide advice to internal stakeholders on the accounting implications of business transactions and ad hoc projects.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies in financial planning and reporting, and liaise with external auditors.
  • CA/CPA qualified with previous post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, reporting and governance for a large ASX-listed company.
  • Proven understanding of financial closing, consolidation and reporting processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting topics to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Excel

Job Description

Nine is looking for a Group Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Control team!

You will be an integral member of the team, supporting the Senior Financial Accountant and Group Financial Controller. Your focus will be the accurate and timely execution of accounting processes, providing crucial support to the consolidation process and ensuring the integrity of the Group’s financial data to meet our reporting and compliance obligations.

  • Execute key month-end close and consolidation procedures, ensuring timely and accurate Group financial reporting.

Qualifications

You are a committed and collaborative team member, with an ability to absorb information and act accordingly, often in difficult situations. You will be proactive in discussing solutions and raising ideas for improvement in a positive and professional way, allowing you to build strong relationships.

What you’ll bring:

  • CA/CPA qualified with previous post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, reporting and governance for a large ASX-listed company.
  • Proven understanding of financial closing, consolidation and reporting processes.
