Job Summary
Join Thales in Valence as a Hardware Architect for Navigation Products. You will be technically responsible for the hardware architecture of solutions developed within projects, coordinating with solution/system architects and the Project Design Authority. Your role involves leading and coordinating hardware architecture studies, approving technical choices, ensuring compliance with standards, and identifying risks and opportunities. You will also implement architectural choices based on cost, supply chain, client requirements, and technological possibilities, and contribute to the technical strategy of product lines.
Must Have
- Elaborate, stabilize, and maintain hardware architecture for all lifecycle phases, from offer to hardware delivery.
- Lead and coordinate hardware architecture studies.
- Approve technical, technological, and methodological choices in compliance with the approved hardware architecture.
- Ensure compliance with standards, product development plans (including reuse policy), and hardware, industrial, and purchasing strategies.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to hardware architecture.
- Propose and implement risk reduction and opportunity validation plans.
- Implement architectural choices based on compromises between cost, supply chain, client requirements, and technological possibilities.
- Prepare design and justification files.
- Provide knowledge on the state of the art in hardware architecture and its evolution.
- Contribute to the technical strategy of one or more hardware product lines.
- Ensure compliance with the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.
- Bac+5 (engineering school or equivalent) specialized in Electronics or Aeronautics/Space or a Doctorate in the Hardware field.
- Significant experience (>10 years) in one or more HW disciplines and/or in product development with R&D project management experience.
- In-depth technical competence in several HW disciplines (analog and digital electronics (FPGA, Processor)).
- Sizing of computing platforms for embedded equipment: identification of processing core (FPGA, microprocessor, processor) and peripherals (memories, oscillator, data flows).
- Mastering architect postures and tools (systemic vision, search for alternatives, tradeoffs, etc.).
- Develop and explain hardware architecture concepts (electronics and product integration: packaging, industrialization, testability…).
- Manage technical and organizational complexity.
- Influence on the project and on the strategy of its discipline within its entity.
- Share knowledge clearly and structured, adapting to interlocutors.
- Execute the engineering process.
- Work collaboratively.
- Manage a technical team.
- Lead action plans.
- English (read, written, spoken).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural international environment (France, Canada, India, UK).
- Ability to work cross-functionally with different departments and build effective relationships.
- Mobility for short-term missions (less than one week) in France and internationally.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of electronic architectures associated with inertial products such as the implementation of accelerometric or gyrometric sensors and integrated into an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) then into a navigator (IRS, ADIRU).
- Knowledge of electronic architectures associated with GNSS products (receiver, anti-jammer, SAW filter, CAG, high-frequency DAC…).
- Experience in safety-critical system architecture.
- DO254/DO160 certification, or failing that, knowledge of the DO254 process, the position requires rigor of execution and the ability to follow an established process.
- Knowledge of production trades: procurement, manufacturing, delivery.
- Additional knowledge of avionics products: display, civil and military computers, probes.

We are looking for a Hardware Architect for Navigation Products (M/F) on a permanent contract in Valence.
The position holder is technically responsible for the hardware architecture of the solution developed within a project. They coordinate with the Solution/System Architect and the Project Design Authority (PDA) to ensure the consistency of the solution/system architecture with hardware, industrial, and purchasing strategies. They will thus be required to technically and functionally coordinate engineers from hardware disciplines such as boards (digital, analog, RF, and power supplies), integrated circuits (FPGA, ASIC), low-level software (in agreement with the software architect), electronic and mechanical design office, testability and test means, industrial design (in agreement with the Industrial Manager).
Their mission is carried out for a hardware solution of medium or high complexity depending on their experience, which may involve major innovations or technological breakthroughs and significant risks conditioning the project results. This position requires having developed technical knowledge in several Hardware professions and/or a good level of expertise in a specific Hardware profession.
Your missions:

Your profile:
