Job Summary
As Head of Commercial Product, OA Agreements, you will define and evolve Open Access Agreement business models globally, focusing on sustainable growth and value for partners. Responsibilities include analyzing pricing impact, sizing commercial potential, supporting strategic planning, ensuring end-to-end readiness for model parameters, and collating feedback for product development. You will also act as a spokesperson for commercial product strategy and analyze market offerings.
Must Have
- Proven experience in commercial product development, sales strategy, or marketing, ideally within academic publishing, SaaS, or a related industry.
- Working knowledge of Open Access publishing models and institutional agreements.
- Hands-on experience with sales processes and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and ability to leverage these tools for operational efficiency and reporting.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organisation with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and driving product innovation.
- Strategic and analytical mindset with strong commercial acumen.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to synthesise complex data and make informed decisions.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and managing competing priorities.

About the Role
As we expand our Open Access (OA) Agreements globally, we are seeking a commercially driven and strategically minded individual to shape the future of our institutional OA product portfolio. This role will work closely with the Director, OA Agreements and Director, Partnerships to define, refine, and operationalise business models that support sustainable growth and value creation for our partners. The role is global but will be New York-based to expand our presence in a key and complex market.
Responsibilities
- Acts as product lead on the definition and evolution of OA Agreement business models and parameters
- Analyse and monitor existing agreements and pipeline to understand and report on pricing impact
- Size the global commercial impact and monetisation potential of new and existing models
- Support long-term strategic planning for OA product innovation
- Work with stakeholders to ensure end-to-end readiness for each parameter: documentation, modelling, offer frameworks, contracts, reporting, and CRM integration
- Collate external and internal feedback to prioritise backlog and ensure developments provide customer value and satisfaction, whilst considering implementation cost
- Support Partnerships, Performance, and Operational teams to communicate frameworks, contract language, and approval matrices clearly across the organisation
- Act as a spokesperson for commercial product strategy in cross-functional and tech development projects
- Analyse market offerings in the OA Agreement space as well as internal products for synergies and potential
- Maintain a governance framework for model decisions and practice, including guardrails and prioritisation
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in commercial product development, sales strategy, or marketing, ideally within academic publishing, SaaS, or a related industry

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000. This role is eligible for an annual performance-related bonus plan. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level, and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
