Job Description

Let's build a future of trust together

Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three business sectors: Defense & Security, Aeronautics & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.

Our commitments, your benefits

  • Our technological expertise
  • Our attention to employee work-life balance
  • An inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)

Your daily life

At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of Thales' most important technological centers of excellence. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.

You will join the "Antennas, AESA and Radiated IVV" team of the Defense Mission Systems entity, which has a material characterization bench.

This bench consists of a set of two focused antennas, between which the sample to be characterized is installed.

Measurements of reflection and transmission coefficients through this sample allow its radioelectric properties to be deduced.

The objective of this internship is to extend the possibilities offered by this bench by implementing characterizations at incidence.

The candidate will benefit from the recently implemented ability to automatically control the bench.

The internship will allow:

  • to acquire solid knowledge on RF material characterization
  • to strengthen skills in programming tools (Matlab or Python) for modeling purposes
  • to work in an industrial environment close to the IVV teams

By joining us, you will be entrusted with the following missions:

  • Study of the state of the art and internal work on the subject
  • Familiarization with the Matlab scripts necessary for characterization (available internally)
  • Implementation of an incidence characterization methodology and performance analysis

Your profile

Are you pursuing a BAC+5 level course in electronics and telecommunications and looking for an internship for a duration of 6 months?

Do you have fundamental knowledge of microwaves and antennas, an aptitude for experimental manipulations, and scientific curiosity?

Do you have knowledge in Matlab or Python programming?

Ideally, do you have knowledge of antenna simulation software (HFSS or CST)?

Are you curious and rigorous, proactive, and enjoy teamwork?

All our internships are formalized by an agreement and subject to remuneration, the amount of which is determined according to your level of study.
