Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three sectors: Defense & Security, Aeronautics & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.
At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of Thales' most important technological centers of excellence. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.
To face predictable conflicts by 2040, air combat systems (fighter jets, drones, remote carriers) must evolve towards a system-of-systems organization with collaborative and connected operating modes. The same applies to the sensors embedded in them. Their performance must improve individually but also collectively, driven by digitalization and connectivity within sensor suites.
Within the Advanced Sensors and Mission Systems Engineering Department, at the Technical Directorate of Defense Mission Systems activities, in the context of collaborative combat, we are looking to optimize the use of sensors by developing a sensor suite allowing the collaboration of sensors located on the same platform or distributed across several platforms.
This internship is part of our technological maturation work aimed at guaranteeing expected performance, while exploiting collaborations between platforms that rely on external communication means whose performance can be variable.
By joining us, you will be entrusted with the following missions:
1. You are responsible for completing the state of the art of software solutions for distributed systems with real-time or near real-time performance issues.
2. You are responsible for implementing one of the identified solutions on a defined scope and scenarios to evaluate the suitability of the solution to constraints (performance, impact of communications…).
3. You evaluate the solution against the identified criteria and analyze its suitability (unsuitable solution, evolutions to be planned…).
Are you in your final year of an engineering program specializing in programming and software architecture?
Do you know distributed software architectures as well as software architectures for embedded solutions?
Are you comfortable with setting up software solution prototypes?
Do you master the implementation of performance measurement/evaluation tools for software solutions?
Ideally, do you have knowledge in the real-time domain and networks?
Are you recognized for your curiosity, your ability to propose new ideas, and your autonomy?
Then this internship is for you!
All our internships are formalized by an agreement and subject to remuneration, the amount of which is determined according to your level of study.
Thales, a Handi-Engaged company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
