Job Description

Thales is seeking a Line Maintenance Technical Supervisor to provide expert guidance, technical assistance, and on-wing support to internal line maintenance teams working on Thales In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems. This role ensures system reliability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with aviation standards. The supervisor will lead by example, performing advanced diagnostics and maintenance, mentoring technicians, and supporting technical operations across Thales-maintained fleets. They will also coordinate with cross-functional departments, prioritize tasks, and ensure operational excellence and team performance.
Must Have:
  • Provide IFEC Maintenance and Troubleshooting expertise.
  • Lead and mentor Line Maintenance Technicians.
  • Ensure system reliability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with aviation standards.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and maintenance.

  • Ensure 7-day supervisory coverage and coordinate shift responsibilities.

  • Ensure Line Maintenance Station complies with Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals.
  • Ensure training program meets regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure General Maintenance Manual and Safety Management System are employed.
  • Liaison with other departments for future maintenance activities planning.
  • Identify and address material obsolescence issues.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are established, maintained, and followed.
  • Provide point of contact for FAA, EASA, DGAC, GACA, and Customer/Company Quality Assurance.
  • Accountability for maintenance activity costs.
  • Initiate improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Maintain frequent communication with local Customer Maintenance Management team.
  • Provide outstanding Line Maintenance support.
  • Regularly interact with customers to promote Thales Brand and measure satisfaction.
  • Associate degree with 2 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificates or Thales Repairman Certificate (must obtain A&P within 1 year).
  • Meet recent experience requirements in accordance with 14 CFR 65.83.
  • Knowledgeable of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s).
  • Minimum 1-3 years in Leadership role.
  • Valid, unrestricted Passport with ability to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Strong in avionics, able to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and follow written procedures.
  • Ability to terminate electrical connectors utilizing proper crimp methods and proper soldering methods.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and directions.
  • Ability to summarize and effectively present information.
  • Ability to work on problems of moderate scope and analyze data/situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Avionics/Electronics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Must be contactable outside of normal office hours for on-call support.
  • Requires rotation between all shifts, weekend and holiday work.
  • Obtain Airport security and Custom clearance security credentials.
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally 20%.

Line Maintenance Technical Supervisor

Position Summary

Thales is seeking a Line Maintenance Technical Supervisor to provide expert guidance, technical assistance, and on-wing support to internal line maintenance teams working on Thales In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems. This role ensures system reliability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with aviation standards.

In this position, you will lead by example, performing advanced diagnostics and maintenance while actively mentoring Line Maintenance Technicians. You’ll support technical operations across Thales-maintained fleets, interface with cross-functional departments to troubleshoot issues before aircraft arrival and help prioritize tasks based on severity and customer impact. You’ll also work closely with Line Maintenance Supervisors to ensure 7-day coverage and help coordinate shift-level responsibilities, staffing, and technical support across stations as needed. Your leadership, communication skills, and technical expertise will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and strengthening team performance at Thales-supported locations.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide IFEC Maintenance and Troubleshooting expertise (remotely or onsite) to Thales Line Maintenance teams. Provide field support (including maintenance calls, customer support request, etc.) to help the timely dispatching of Aircraft with high level of IFEC system performances and customer satisfaction. Investigate critical in-service events (e.g. executive complaints, extended dark flights, etc.) and leads events to a resolution. Provide, back office, Maintenance recommendations for poor performing or chronic aircrafts.
  • Identify systemic issues based on repetitive maintenance actions performed, feedback or reports from key stakeholders (including customer, cabin crew, line maintenance, engineering, etc.). Validate Technical Maintenance or Installation Data (MPD, AMM, SBs,). Utilize monitoring tools (ground tool, parser, on wing tool) to support Line Maintenance. Meet customer and Thales’s requirements to perform and sign for work on wing. Will have to consistently learn and train on new products, new functions and performance issues by working closely with applicable departments. Support Line Maintenance Supervisor Duties to help ensure 7 day per week Supervisory coverage. Manages and supervises all aspects of Line Maintenance and ensures all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervises maintenance staff, which includes making employment decisions, reviewing employee performance, addressing escalated issues, generating assignments, and setting priorities. Performs, monitors, and reports daily operational activities to ensure Customer and Thales objectives are met, underperformance identified, and resolution plans executed. Establish and monitor staffing levels to meet regulatory and commercial requirements. Monitor human performance factors such as morale, fatigue, stress, depression and other factors affecting personnel. Work with HR, Management and other professional personnel to minimize the influx of such factors.
  • Ensure Line Maintenance Station complies with Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals. The training program meets the regulatory requirements of local and applicable international regulatory agencies and company objectives. Ensure the General Maintenance Manual and Safety Management System is employed throughout the Line Maintenance Operation and Staff. Identify gaps in manuals and work with Safety & Quality Department personnel to resolve issues. Liaison with other departments and work as teams to plan future maintenance activities to include forecasting labor requirements, identifying specialized training, tooling, certifications, and materials.
  • Represents Line Maintenance to identify and address material obsolescence issues with other functional departments such as Quality, Procurement, Engineering, and other departments as necessary to resolve issues. Ensuring processes and procedures are established, maintained and followed within the Safety, Quality, Material, Repair, and administrative functions of the Line Maintenance Station. Provide a point of contact for the FAA, EASA, DGAC, GACA, and Customer/Company Quality Assurance for repair and service inquiries at Line Maintenance Station. May interact with customers to resolve issues. Accountability for maintenance activity costs. Be the guarantor of Thales' integrated service offering/branding. Initiates improvement opportunities and implement solutions to gain bottom-line financial results. Ability to measure and gage financial impact on aircraft seat degradation and line maintenance errors causing significant disruption to operations and or major costs for Thales.
  • Responsible for responding to ad hoc requests, capturing financial data/information from local customer management and working with Thales Program Management team to capture unplanned revenue. Maintain frequent communication with the local Customer Maintenance Management team regarding aircraft IFE and Connectivity status. Provide outstanding Line Maintenance support by collaborating with local customers’ management to provide maximum operational performance while minimizing customer impact. Regularly interact with customers to promote Thales Brand and to measure the level of customer satisfaction. Use customer feedback to constantly develop and improve capabilities and processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree (Technical or Managerial), such as Aeronautical Maintenance / Engineering, Aviation Management, Administration, etc. with 2 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience OR a High School Diploma/High School GED with 5 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience. Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificates or Thales Repairman Certificate required. Employee with Repairman Certificate must obtain Airframe and Powerplant Certificate within 1 year of taking position.
  • Must meet recent experience requirements in accordance with 14 CFR 65.83. Knowledgeable of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s). Minimum 1-3 years in Leadership role. Valid, unrestricted Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States or ability to obtain one.
  • Regular attendance is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a record that meets our insurance standards. Strong in avionics, able to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and follow written procedures and instructions. Ability to terminate electrical connectors utilizing proper crimp methods as well as proper soldering methods acceptable in the aviation industry
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and directions. Ability to summarize and effectively present information to Internal and external Customers. Ability to work on problems of moderate scope and analyze data/situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Will be required to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in Avionics/Electronics. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
  • Must be contactable outside of normal office hours to provide support to the organization on an “on-call” basis. The demand for the operation may require flexible and extended work hours to meet the release of the aircraft.

Special Position Requirements

  • Requires rotation between all shifts as well as weekend and holiday work.
  • Schedule: Primarily 3rd shift - Shifts may vary – flexibility required – Scheduled workdays may include weekends and holidays. Scheduled days off could be mid-week.
  • Obtain Airport security and Custom clearance security credentials, which includes a 10-year background criminal history check. (CHRC).
  • Physical Environment: Line Station maintenance area- customer aircrafts- outside- loud noises may be experienced– airport ramps; airport roads and office environment.
  • Travel: This position will require domestic and/or international travel 20%.
