Job Summary

WSP Mexico is seeking a Jr. Designer of Hydrosanitary and Fire Protection Systems for its Property & Buildings team in Puebla. The role involves supporting the design, development, and coordination of hydrosanitary and fire protection projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in Mexico and the US, and ensuring compliance with international standards. Responsibilities include designing and modeling water, drainage, and fire systems, preparing calculations, coordinating with other disciplines, and using AutoCAD and Revit for project deliverables.

Must Have

  • Collaborate with Mid Level and Senior engineers on project development.
  • Design and model potable water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, and fire protection networks.
  • Prepare calculations and sizing for hydraulic (cold and hot water), sanitary, storm, and ventilation pipes.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for correct project execution.
  • Comply with regulations, norms, and quality standards in designs.
  • Prepare project deliverables using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Examine existing conditions to ensure correct design execution.
  • Participate in technical reviews and quality assurance.
  • Degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • 1-3 years experience in hydrosanitary or fire protection engineering projects.
  • English minimum B1 (reading, writing, technical communication).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic system principles (cold/hot water, sanitary, ventilation, storm).
  • Proficiency in Revit, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD for design and modeling.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Knowledge of IPC, UPC, ASPE, NFPA regulations and codes.
  • Ability to size hydraulic, sanitary, storm, and ventilation pipes.

Good to Have

  • Specialization in hydrosanitary systems and/or fire protection.
  • Design of hot water, natural gas, and automatic fire sprinkler systems.

About this opportunity:

At WSP Mexico, we are looking for a Jr. Designer of Hydrosanitary and Fire Protection Systems to join our Property & Buildings team for our offices in Puebla.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and coordination of hydrosanitary and fire protection projects, working in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams in Mexico and the United States, ensuring compliance with regulations and international standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Mid Level and Senior engineers in project development from the conceptual phase to advanced stages.
  • Design and model potable water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, and fire protection systems.
  • Prepare calculations and sizing for hydraulic (cold and hot water), sanitary, storm, and ventilation pipes.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure correct project execution.
  • Comply with regulations, norms, and quality standards in designs and executions.
  • Prepare project deliverables using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Examine existing conditions to ensure correct design execution.
  • Participate in technical reviews and quality assurance in assigned projects.
  • Support in the training of new hires and interns.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience: 1 to 3 years in hydrosanitary engineering or fire protection projects.

Language: English minimum B1 (reading, writing and technical communication).

Desirable: Specialization in hydrosanitary systems and/or fire protection.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Principles and practices of hydraulic systems (cold water, hot water, sanitary, ventilation, storm).
  • Design and modeling in Revit, Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design and construction management.
  • Regulations and codes: IPC, UPC, ASPE, NFPA.
  • Sizing of hydraulic, sanitary, storm and ventilation pipes.
  • Desirable: design of hot water, natural gas and automatic fire sprinkler systems.
