Job Summary

WSP Mexico is seeking a Junior Electrical Installations Designer for its Property & Buildings team in Puebla. The role involves collaborating on electrical project design for buildings, working with multidisciplinary teams in Mexico and the US, and ensuring compliance with international standards. Responsibilities include supporting engineers in project development, designing and coordinating electrical systems (lighting, controls, grounding, unifilar diagrams), preparing project deliverables using AutoCAD and Revit, interpreting markups, and participating in coordination meetings.

Must Have

  • Support Mid Level and Senior engineers in electrical project development from conceptual to advanced stages.
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems: lighting, lighting control, contacts, power, grounding, unifilar and riser diagrams.
  • Perform calculations and load relationships according to applicable US codes.
  • Prepare project deliverables (plans, short specifications, design bases) using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Interpret and apply markups in English for plan and diagram generation and correction.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with teams in Mexico and the US.
  • Report project progress and activity development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in electrical engineering design or related areas.
  • Minimum B1 English proficiency (reading, writing, and technical communication).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems principles and installation design practices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Proficiency in preparing unifilar/riser diagrams and load schedules in Revit.
  • Ability to design lighting and lighting control, calculate branch circuits, feeders, and HVAC, PLBG, PCI equipment.
  • Knowledge of NOM, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, LEED, and Energy Code regulations.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, and Comcheck software.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and energy efficiency in lighting.

About this opportunity:

At WSP Mexico, we are looking for a Junior Electrical Installations Designer to join our Property & Buildings team for our offices in Puebla.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for collaborating in the design and development of electrical projects for buildings, working in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams in Mexico and the United States, ensuring compliance with regulations and international standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Mid Level and Senior engineers in the development of electrical projects from the conceptual phase to advanced stages.
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems: lighting, lighting control, contacts, power, grounding, unifilar and riser diagrams, including calculations and load relationships, in accordance with applicable codes in the USA.
  • Prepare project deliverables (plans, short specifications, design bases) using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Interpret and apply markups in English for the generation and correction of plans and diagrams.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with teams in Mexico and the USA.
  • Report project progress and activity development.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.

Experience: 1 to 3 years in design or areas related to electrical engineering.

Language: Minimum B1 English (reading, writing, and technical communication).

Desirable: Specialization in Electrical Installations.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Principles and practices of electrical systems and installation design.
  • Familiarity with planning, design, and construction management of infrastructure.
  • Preparation of unifilar/riser diagrams and load schedules in Revit.
  • Design of lighting and lighting control, calculation of branch circuits, feeders, and HVAC, PLBG, and PCI equipment.
  • Regulations and codes: NOM, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, LEED, Energy Code.
  • Software: Revit, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, Comcheck.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and energy efficiency in lighting.
