Job Summary

As a Lead Analytics Engineer at Nubank, you will play a critical role in shaping how data is designed, built, and used across the company. You will lead complex, high-impact analytics initiatives, acting as a technical reference while remaining hands-on. This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, analytics engineering, and business strategy, requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to influence decisions through data. You will work with high autonomy, partnering closely with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and well-governed data products that enable better decision-making across Nubank.

Must Have

  • Lead end-to-end analytics initiatives
  • Design and evolve analytical data architectures
  • Build and maintain robust, large-scale data pipelines
  • Identify and drive improvements across ETL/ELT platforms
  • Translate complex business needs into data models and analytical products
  • Act as a trusted partner to technical and business stakeholders
  • Mentor Analytics Engineers and promote best practices
  • Influence technical standards within projects
  • Solid experience in data architecture and data modeling
  • Strong ability to write highly optimized SQL
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines from scratch
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or similar
  • Experience working with distributed data systems and parallel processing
  • Ability to translate business concepts into metrics, KPIs, and analytical solutions

Good to Have

  • Experience with software engineering best practices (clean code, documentation, automated testing)
  • Familiarity with modern analytics stacks and tools (e.g., Spark, Airflow, dbt, Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with data governance, lineage, metadata, and access control
  • Experience mentoring others or acting as a technical reference within a team
  • Advanced English proficiency (B2+ according to CEFR)

As a Lead Analytics Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping how data is designed, built, and used across the company. You will lead complex, high-impact analytics initiatives that span multiple teams and business domains, acting as a technical reference while remaining hands-on. This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, analytics engineering, and business strategy, requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to influence decisions through data. You will work with high autonomy, partnering closely with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and well-governed data products that enable better decision-making across Nubank.

What you'll do

  • Lead end-to-end analytics initiatives, from problem definition and stakeholder alignment to data modeling, pipeline implementation, and delivery.
  • Design and evolve analytical data architectures (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Marts) that are scalable, performant, and aligned with long-term strategy.
  • Build and maintain robust, large-scale data pipelines, often from scratch, optimizing for reliability, performance, and cost.
  • Identify and drive improvements across ETL/ELT platforms, tooling, observability, and data quality processes.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable data models, metrics, and analytical products.
  • Act as a trusted partner to technical and business stakeholders, helping define data strategies and manage trade-offs.
  • Mentor Analytics Engineers, contribute to hiring, and promote best practices in analytics engineering and data literacy.
  • Influence technical standards and ways of working within projects and across the analytics engineering community.

We're looking for someone who has

  • Solid experience in data architecture and data modeling within complex or large-scale data environments.
  • Strong ability to write highly optimized SQL and design efficient analytical models.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines from scratch.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or similar general-purpose languages.
  • Experience working with distributed data systems and parallel processing.
  • Ability to translate business concepts into metrics, KPIs, and analytical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • A strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and passion for building high-quality data products.

Nice to have:
