Job Description

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chip and advanced display production. This Logistics Industrial Engineer role focuses on methods engineering, including process design, time/motion studies, and manufacturing line improvements. Key responsibilities involve leading IE projects, conducting ergonomics evaluations, and developing facility designs. The role also supports new product introductions with PLC/ePLC deliverables, maintains capacity data, and establishes production standards. This position requires a proactive individual to drive material innovation and optimize manufacturing processes.
Must Have:
  • Perform methods engineering analysis, process design, time and motion study.
  • Lead I.E. projects and programs, assist in implementation with quality tools.
  • Conduct ergonomics/human factors evaluations, recommend improvements to work area designs.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing facility design, material handling systems.
  • Support new product introductions with PLC/ePLC deliverables, tooling development.
  • Serve as a role model for engineering team members, follow protocols.
  • Calculate and maintain capacity data for materials, people, space, equipment.
  • Establish standards and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs Methods Engineering analysis including process design, time and motion study, and recommends manufacturing line improvements.
  • Participates and or Leads in I.E. projects and programs within areas of responsibility. Assists in the implementation of these projects into business with quality tools, supporting processes and ongoing measures for success. Provides cost analysis and return on investment calculations associated with project selection.
  • Conducts/Leads ergonomics/ human factors evaluations, recommends and implements improvements to work area designs.
  • Develops/leads and implements manufacturing facility design of plant layout, material handling systems, material staging and warehousing as desired.
  • Supports new products introductions by providing PLC/ePLC deliverables which include manufacturing line design and set up, material flow design, new tooling development and deployment of specialized tooling and fixtures.
  • Serves as a role model and sets the example, whose behavior is emulated by other engineering team members. (Safe behavior, follow proper protocols and procedures, including core values).
  • Calculates and maintains capacity data for materials processing, people, space, and equipment associated with production. Provides guidance to manufacturing and logistics related to effective and efficient use of assets and production processes.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.

Other Requirements: This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.

Additionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
