Job Summary
NewsNation is seeking a full-time Audio Operator (A2) for its national newscasts, based in its New York studios. This role is crucial for managing microphones, IFBs, and cables for on-air talent in a live broadcast environment, including the essential task of troubleshooting frequency and connection problems. The successful candidate will be a professional, quick-thinking problem solver, adept at effective communication and documentation within a collaborative team. This position requires working weekend mornings and a minimum of three years of experience in professional live television broadcast operations, along with IBEW membership.
Must Have
- Manage mics, IFBs, and cables of talent in a live broadcast environment.
- Troubleshoot frequency/connection problems.
- Effectively communicate placement and issues with the A1.
- Be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve issues during live news broadcasts.
- Communicate and document effectively and concisely to the rest of the team.
- Ability to work Weekend Mornings.
- Three plus (3+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations.
- Work well in a collaborative team environment and be able to multitask.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Be self-sufficient and have a “press-on-regardless” attitude.
- Membership in IBEW.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of mixing/comms (AZ Edit).
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.

Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be able to manage the mics, IFBs and cables of talent in a live broadcast environment, this includes being able to troubleshoot frequency/connection problems
- Must be able to effectively communicate placement and issues with the A1 who is mixing the show
- The successful candidate should conduct themselves in a professional manner with talent while getting the job done quickly and efficiently
- The successful candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve issues and to work around problems that arise during live news broadcasts
- Must be able to communicate and document effectively and concisely to the rest of the team
- This position includes Weekend Mornings
- Perform other duties as assigned by network leadership
Qualifications:
This position will require membership in IBEW.
- Three plus (3+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations required
- Must work well in a collaborative team environment and be able to multitask.
- Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be self-sufficient and have a “press-on-regardless” attitude.
- Knowledge of mixing/comms is a plus (AZ Edit)
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
Salary Range:
(per experience) $41 - $46 an hour
