Jane Street is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its global team, supporting payroll processing and compliance for Hong Kong and Australia, with back-up for Singapore, India, and the UAE. Responsibilities include timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance, vendor coordination, and colleague support. The role involves close collaboration with HR, Recruiting, and internal teams on tax reporting, benefits administration, and system enhancements, contributing to process evolution in a fast-paced environment.

Must Have

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of Hong Kong and Australia payrolls and pension contributions.
  • Prepare updates to payroll records; monitor changes in compensation.
  • Complete month-end, quarterly and annual processes.
  • Liaise with HR team on employee matters relating to payroll and MPF.
  • Provide customer service to Jane Street employees for payroll questions.
  • Prepare monthly payroll reports and reconciliations.
  • Review year-end, commencement and departure forms (e.g., IR56B, 56E, 56F, 56G, FBT tax returns).
  • Support global mobility initiatives.
  • Provide support during audits.
  • Maintain payroll and internal control procedures.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and current payroll laws and regulations.
  • Recommend ways to improve and automate payroll processes.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
  • Professionalism, trustworthiness, and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Proactive, independent work with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our global team. This position will support our payroll processing and compliance for Hong Kong and Australia, and provide back-up support for Singapore, India, and the UAE.

You will be responsible for the timely preparation and accurate processing of the payrolls, the preparation of compliance-related items, coordination with vendors and providing friendly customer service to colleagues in responding to their payroll queries.

You will also work closely with our HR, Recruiting and other internal teams to ensure all tax reporting, benefits-records administration and payroll issues are handled accurately and responsibly. This will include collaborating with our Workday team on system updates and enhancements.

Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

About You

  • Have 10+ years of Hong Kong and international payroll experience, preferably from a financial services background
  • Intellectually curious and willing to learn payroll compliance in other jurisdictions
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field
  • Experienced with managing external vendors
  • Strong communicator with great people skills
  • Organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Professional, trustworthy and able to handle sensitive information with excellent judgment and discretion
  • Proactive and able to work independently with exceptional analytical skills
  • Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with Workday HR and Payroll, with expat payroll a plus
  • Fluent in English
