Mission of the position
Responsible for the development and execution of all operations, engineering and process safety activities, including engineering projects (CAPEX), maximizing the utilization of our plant's resources and assets to optimize costs, as well as the speed, quality and reliability of our products in the market, providing a superior customer experience and aggressively pursuing operational excellence.
Process Safety Management, ensuring safe operations at the Brazil Plant and in operations through the implementation of the corporate PSM management system and supporting all SHE initiatives in Safety, Health and Environment, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Effective Operational Team Leadership:
- Plan, seek and provide strong and effective leadership to the operational team to ensure that the strategic objectives of the organization are achieved.
- Support Departmental Managers in the development, coordination and execution of departmental support plans to achieve the company's sales and marketing objectives.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Divisional Sales Managers to develop strategies that achieve the organization's objectives, considering internal and external factors.
- Work closely with the General Manager, Divisional Sales Managers and other General Operations Managers to resolve daily operational problems and meet customer needs and requirements.
- Investigate and communicate with the General Manager and Divisional Sales Managers on all matters of potentially significant financial impact to the Company, including costs, credit control, cash flow, product line evaluation and capital expenditures.
- Drive Strategy execution, ensuring alignment with global working group guidelines
- Establish appropriate management control processes, systems and business reporting tools across all departments.
Ensure the Effectiveness of Process Safety Management
- Responsible for continuous checks on the effectiveness of all elements of process safety management, reporting deficiencies to the Plant Manager and assisting with corrective actions, as necessary.
- Provides information on PSM priorities, budget and necessary resources. Assists the Plant Manager in developing the plant's PSM policies, goals and processes, in accordance with GS&E policies, processes and goals, and ensures their implementation and monitoring.
- Advises and develops strategies to further enhance process safety. Provides engineering support, as necessary, to ensure that the process safety management system is followed, including managing change documentation, leading PHA, procedures, etc.
- Is an active and effective participant in the GPMWG PSM sub-team and keeps familiar with CCPS guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of process safety management system and hazard/risk analysis.
- Leads or participates in risk assessments, hazard identification/evaluation studies, hazard operability studies, consequence analysis, protection layer analysis and departmental reviews.
- Participates in incident and near-miss investigations and drives corrective actions to completion.
- Initiates, reviews and maintains the Management of Change process as necessary.
Ensure the safe conditions of our plant, contributing to the optimized use of Buckman's resources.
- Management of the plant maintenance process in Sumaré.
- Optimization of human and financial resources, ensuring full availability of assets.
- Ensure that processes are within established good practice standards and in compliance with current regulations.
- Ensure that maintenance procedures are carried out through the effective involvement of maintenance teams and effective contract management.
- Ensure that maintenance expense values are effectively controlled through monthly analysis and direct engagement of those responsible for the areas.
- Manage Outsourced Services contracts in the areas of Maintenance, Property Security, Gardening and Cleaning and supplies (such as Electricity and Nitrogen).
- Support all SHE initiatives in Safety, Health and Environment for the Southern Cone, ensuring compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
Global operational excellence
- Promote operational excellence through collaboration with the General Manager and/or
- Business Unit Leader to develop strategies to achieve the organization's objectives, considering internal and external factors.
- Implement global initiatives effectively.
Ensure effective representation of Buckman Latam
- Maintain and build relationships with all stakeholders
- Represent Buckman in important meetings with suppliers, customers and the community
- Represent the company in the media when requested by the company and following guidelines
- Negotiate and sign significant contracts on behalf of Buckman, following governance standards, approval levels and necessary approvals
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the General Director periodically
Competent Project Management
- Ensure that planned and approved investments are made viable and implemented through effective management of work progress, engineering and relevant documentation.
- Work with external contractors/suppliers to acquire the goods and services necessary for project implementation.
- Develop accurate cost estimates and schedules for projects.
- Identify plant projects in line with strategy and with excellent ROI potential (Capital Budget).
- Establish the capital plan and justify it to senior management.
- Conduct engineering reviews to ensure project progress implementation in compliance with scope, schedule and cost.
- Prepare detailed Capital Expense Requests detailing the basis for improvement projects, including ROI and VDDM approach.
- Provide project status reports to management.
Ensure team development through the seven principles and effective application of talent management processes.
- Consistently apply Buckman Policies and procedures.
- Promote an environment of continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective Performance Management through the PMTZ system, ensuring the use of job profiles, RADs and the Talent Forum.
- Ensure the recruitment and selection of competent associates who fit Buckman's culture and are aligned with the Business Strategy.
- Develop plans to enhance the departmental climate survey among our associates.
- Promote the training program to enhance the capacity building of our associates.

Minimum requirements to apply for the position
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Administration or Chemistry
Experience: more than 10 years
Mandatory:
- Previous Leadership Experience
- Fluent English
- Chemical Process Engineering
- Experience in Process Safety (PHA's, Hazop, MOC, etc.)
- Project Management
Desirable:
- Intermediate Spanish
- ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 Management Systems
- Operational Excellence: demonstrate ability to maximize plant utilization to optimize costs, speed, quality and reliability of products in the market, providing a Superior Customer Experience.
