Principal DevSecOps Engineer

Thales is seeking a Principal DevSecOps Engineer to drive secure, automated software delivery for Air Mobility Solutions (AMS) in Australia. Based in Melbourne, this role involves leading and mentoring DevSecOps culture, implementing efficient CI/CD pipelines, and providing technical leadership during transformation programs. The engineer will establish automation and traceability for product deployment, collaborate with various engineering teams, and identify/implement improvements, leveraging strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills.

Must Have

• Proven leadership as a Lead DevOps Engineer with solid DevSecOps experience
• Expertise with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory)
• Expertise with automation (Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficient in Linux/Unix
• Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Proficient in cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.

This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.

Your role:

• Based between the World Trade Centre and International Airport, your role will be to drive secure, automated software delivery across Air Mobility Solution (AMS)
• Lead, mentor, and support the DevSecOps culture, mindset, and implementation at Thales
• Leverage automated delivery pipelines for efficient software build and automated deployment across AMS
• Provide technical and transformational leadership to DevOps teams during CICD pipeline transformation programs
• Establish and maintain automation and traceability for final product deployment
• Collaborate closely with CI/CD solution leads, architects, software and system engineering, and delivery teams
• Identify existing gaps, propose improvements, and drive implementation solutions
• Utilize and build strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership experience gained from leading multiple DevSecOps teams

Requirements:

• Proven leadership as a Lead DevOps Engineer with solid DevSecOps experience
• Expertise with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory) and automation (Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficient in Linux/Unix, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
