This exciting opportunity is for a Bid Risk Manager at Thales Optronics and Missile Electronics in Glasgow. The role involves leading the implementation and continuous improvement of risk management practices across bids and projects, providing training, mentoring, and guidance to project teams. The manager will act as an independent risk reviewer for business-critical projects, ensuring best practices are applied and identifying and managing risk management capability strengths and weaknesses. Must Have
- Deliver risk and opportunity management training to Bid Managers, Project Managers and Work Package Managers
- Be a subject matter expert (SME) for Risk & Opportunity Management for domain
- Mentor bid managers and project managers to implement a culture of risk management across bids and projects
- Create and maintain Risk and Opportunity Management Plans
- Support creation of initial Risk and Opportunity Registers
- Review existing Programme & Project Risk Register with a view to improving and streamlining the data to provide a set of robust Programme risks
- Excellent, professional risk management skills and experience
- Skilled in providing risk management coaching
- Expert in the use of Risk & Opportunity Tools (PRA, Safran, ARM)
- Demonstrative experience in implementing and embedding risk management frameworks and compliance assurance activities
- Good knowledge and evidence of Programme and Project Management competences in Risk Management, Issue Management, Change Management
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills

Our Opportunity:
We have a really exciting opportunity for a Bid Risk Manager to join the Optronics and Missile Electronics business. The purpose of this role is to lead on the implementation and continuous improvement of risk management practices across OME bids and projects. Providing training, mentoring, guidance and acting as independent risk reviewer on business-critical projects.
The role will require the ability to deliver risk management expertise and guidance across a range of projects to ensure that best practice is being applied and that risk management capability strengths and weaknesses are identified and managed. This will involve providing coaching and direct at elbow support to less experienced project teams (e.g. Project Managers, Project Controllers, Work Package Managers).
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Deliver risk and opportunity management training to Bid Managers, Project Managers and Work Package Managers (from a variety of job families)
