Job Summary

As a Production Tech at Pentair in Ashland, OH, you will be involved in the foundry process, producing castings for pumps. Responsibilities include operating machines, using power hand tools like grinders, performing knockouts with a sledgehammer, and assisting with iron preparation, melting, and pouring. You will also measure and add minerals, remove slag, and maintain furnace spouts, ensuring the correct grade and quantity of iron for molding lines in a team-based lean manufacturing environment with a focus on safety.

Must Have

  • Perform operations and duties throughout the Foundry
  • Melt and pour liquid metal
  • Swing a sledgehammer for knockouts
  • Remove finished castings
  • Grind and polish castings
  • Run machines and use power hand tools such as grinders
  • Perform and assist a series of operations or duties to make iron and prepare it for the production lines
  • Charge back furnaces by using overhead crane
  • Pour molten iron samples for chemistry and temperatures
  • Measure, weigh and add minerals and additives to the furnace and ladles
  • Remove slag from the furnaces and tap the iron from the furnaces
  • Maintain and repair spouts on both ladles and furnaces as needed
  • Bring supplies and additives to the deck and remove slag hoppers from deck with hoist and forklift
  • Center the ladle over the furnaces and distribute the right grade of iron and quantity to the molding lines
  • Move weights from one mold to the next at No-Bake line
  • Transfer molds from closing line to pouring conveyors and from pouring conveyors to cooling conveyors
  • Work in a team-based lean manufacturing environment where safety is a priority
  • Ability to work 1st and 3rd shifts
  • Ability to lift and lower weights up to 50lbs

You will perform a series of operations and duties throughout the Foundry from melting and pouring the liquid metal, swinging of a sledgehammer for knockouts, to removing the finished casting and grinding and polishing.

Job description and details:

  • You will be helping with the process of producing castings for our pumps in our foundry, and the duties you could be performing are listed below.
  • Running machines and using power hand tools such as grinders
  • Using a sledgehammer on a frequent basis to do knockouts from the molds
  • Perform and assist a series of operations or duties to make iron and prepare it for the production lines, charges back furnaces by using overhead crane, pours molten iron samples for chemistry and temperatures.
  • Measures, weighs and adds minerals and additives to the furnace and ladles as required by the iron control and laboratory technician.
  • Removes slag from the furnaces and taps the iron from the furnaces and maintain and repair spouts on both ladles and furnaces as needed.
  • Brings supplies and additives to the deck and removes slag hoppers from deck with hoist and forklift. Worker will be required to center the ladle over the furnaces and is responsible for the distribution of the right grade of iron and quantity to the molding lines.
  • Move weights from one mold to the next (once the sprue is grey) at No-Bake line. Transfer molds from closing line to pouring conveyors and from pouring conveyers to cooling conveyers.

Position hours/shift (Overtime Available!):

  • 1st shift: 5:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday
  • 3rd shift: 7:00 pm - 5:30 am, Monday through Thursday
  • All training will take place during first shift
  • Overtime on Fridays when available
  • You must be able to work both shifts

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements are standing, walking, twisting at the waist, lifting, and lowering weights up to 50lbs.

Compensation:

The hourly pay for this role is: $21.76/hr.
