Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Program Lead for Airport projects to manage medium to large programs or a defined part of a larger program. This role involves providing technical leadership and strategic direction, contributing to innovation in program management, identifying new business opportunities, and overseeing the delivery of interim infrastructure, including terminal construction. The Program Lead will manage sub-program teams, stakeholder relationships, program governance, performance reporting, contractor management, and change processes, while also mentoring staff.

Must Have

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field (engineering, architecture, etc.).
  • 12+ years experience in a program management leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in large international airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs.
  • Focus on terminal delivery greater than CAD $1BN.

Good to Have

  • Ideally 15+ years of professional experience with 10 in a program management leadership role.
  • Significant expertise in program management and/or applicable technical areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams to deliver complex projects and programs.
  • Strong technical capability in all project phases (design, planning, construction, operations, maintenance).
  • Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Providing strategic-level reporting for effective decision-making.
  • Familiarity with collaborative project environments.
  • Thorough working knowledge and experience of progressive contracting models.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings/workshops with large groups of stakeholders.
  • Recognized degree and professional designation in a relevant field.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage programs that are medium to large in size and complexity or a defined part of a larger program, in support of the overall Program Manager.
  • Provide the organization with technical leadership and strategic direction for program delivery at a regional level.
  • Contributes to innovation in program management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation.
  • Work with Regional leadership and Market Sector Leaders to identify new business opportunities and develop solutions to address them.
  • Delivery of the Interim Infrastructure including construction of the Interim Terminal and Hard Stands in line with scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk requirements.
  • Managing the sub-program team consisting of staff members of two large programs to create one cohesive team.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships both internal and external to the program, working collaboratively with the stakeholder relations team.
  • Implementing the sub-program’s governance and execution plan and ensuring adherence throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Providing consolidated performance reporting to the Program Director and presenting progress reports at regular forums.
  • Managing the contractor in line with their contractual obligations to successfully deliver scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk requirements.
  • Identifying, managing, and escalating change decisions and coordinating with PMO Services to facilitate the change process.
  • Leads monthly Sub-Program Progress Reviews and reports against the required metrics to the Program Director.
  • Highlights resourcing requirements to the Program Director for coordination with PMO Services and the Technical Shared Services teams.
  • Issues monthly program progress reports and updates PMIS progress and performance dashboards.
  • Coordinates with the Program Director and the other Program Leads to effectively support the delivery of the overall Accelerator Program.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field (engineering, architecture, etc.) + 12+ years experience in a program management leadership role
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in large international airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs with a focus on terminal delivery greater than CAD $1BN.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 15+ years of professional experience with 10 in a program management leadership role.
  • Able to demonstrate significant expertise in program management and/or applicable technical areas to deliver complex programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams to deliver complex projects and programs.
  • Strong technical capability in all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance, preferably for large programs/projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships and providing strategic-level reporting to enable effective decision-making.
  • Familiarity with working in collaborative project environments and a thorough working knowledge and experience of progressive contracting models, including Progressive Design Build and Target Price.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings/workshops with large groups of stakeholders.
  • Recognized degree and professional designation in a relevant field considered an asset.

This position requires work on-site/out of the office 5 days a week.
