Job Summary

The Trade Lane Pricing Asia position is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing all commercial and procurement aspects of the ocean freight trade between Asia and Latin America. This role drives growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction through strategic carrier relationships. Major duties include maintaining trade strategy, negotiating carrier contracts, identifying new opportunities, building relationships with carriers, conducting market research, developing growth strategies, participating in customer engagement, managing rates and allocations, and providing field support.

Must Have

  • Maintain short and long-term trade strategy for import and export between Asia and LATAM.
  • Negotiate and manage carrier contracts, space allocations, and service agreements.
  • Identify new opportunities and optimize networks to increase volume and profitability.
  • Build strong relationships and negotiate favorable rates and service levels with carriers.
  • Conduct in-depth research on market trends, competition, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies and business plans for the Asia trade.
  • Participate strategically in customer engagement.
  • Procure and manage rates, service contracts, and accessorial updates.
  • Procure and manage allocation for Asia trade.
  • Partner with carriers to find synergies for best-in-class service and pricing.
  • Complete frequent meetings with key service providers.
  • Engage with Geography Leaders, Regional Pricing and Product Managers, Account Management, Sales, and District offices.
  • Support and participate in carrier negotiations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Business, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 4 years in international freight forwarding, with a strong focus on Latin America ocean market.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

The Trade Lane Pricing Asia position is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing all commercial and procurement aspects of the ocean freight trade between Asia and Latin America. This role drives growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction through strategic carrier relationships.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Trade Management and Development

  • Maintain short and long-term trade strategy for import and export between Asia and LATAM with regional ocean product directors to drive growth in Asia trade
  • Negotiate and manage carrier contracts, space allocations and services agreements to ensure cost competitiveness and reliability.
  • Identifying new opportunities, growing existing trade lanes, and optimizing networks to increase volume and profitability.
  • Building strong relationships and negotiating favorable rates and service levels with carriers for Asia trade.
  • Conducting in-depth research on market trends, competition, and emerging technologies to identify risks and opportunities

Network Business Development

  • Developing and executing growth strategies and business plans to achieve volume and profitability targets for the Asia trade.
  • Participate strategically in customer engagement.
  • Participate in the implementation of awarded business to ensure all sold rates are backed up with the correct underlying carriers and strategy.

Carrier Management

  • Procurement and management of rates, service contracts, and accessorial updates for the associated trade
  • Procurement and management of allocation for Asia trade
  • Partner with carriers to find synergies allowing Expeditors to achieve best-in-class service and pricing.
  • Complete frequent meetings with key service providers for Asia trade to develop relationships.

Field Support

  • Ongoing engagement with Geography Leaders, Regional Pricing and Product Managers, Account Management, Sales, and District offices
  • Develop learning opportunities.
  • Support & participate in carrier negotiations.

Qualifications

  • College graduate bachelor’s degree in business, International Business, or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 4 years in international freight forwarding, with a strong focus on Latin America ocean market
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese
