Job Summary

Lead the end-to-end test program for the FX Workspace initiative, developing and implementing a comprehensive test strategy aligned with LSEG's global FX strategy. Own quality governance, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure production sign-offs for releases. Lead and mentor a team of 15+ test engineers, fostering continuous improvement and a culture of quality. Drive test automation, integrate shift-left/shift-right practices, and define/monitor testing KPIs to manage risks and enhance team effectiveness.

Must Have

  • Lead the end-to-end test programme for the FX Workspace initiative.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive test strategy tailored to FX Exchange Engineering and the Workspace Program.
  • Own quality governance for the program, including definition and management of quality gates, entry/exit criteria, and readiness reviews.
  • Act as the primary voice of quality, partnering with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, and Business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage production sign-offs for major releases.
  • Lead and inspire a team of 15+ test engineers.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Design and maintain a multi-layered test approach, integrating manual, automated, and end-to-end testing.
  • Partner with automation and development teams to define and evolve the automation strategy.
  • Promote shift-left and shift-right testing practices.
  • Define, monitor, and drive testing KPIs to measure quality and team effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify quality risks across the program and influence mitigation plans.
  • Extensive experience (12+ years) in software quality assurance or test engineering.
  • Proven people leadership experience (3+ years) managing and developing engineering or testing teams.
  • Deep domain knowledge in financial services, ideally with exposure to capital markets, FX trading, or wealth management platforms.
  • Expertise in test strategy and design, including functional, integration, regression, non-functional, and end-to-end business process testing.
  • Strong understanding of test automation principles and frameworks, such as BDD (e.g. Cucumber) and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools, such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

Good to Have

  • Experience with FX trading systems, multi-dealer platforms, or other high-availability trading environments.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems architecture and testing approaches for highly available, low-latency platforms.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, ELK stack, or similar).
  • Experience with performance, scalability, and reliability testing.
  • Relevant certifications in quality assurance, project/program management (e.g. PMP), or Agile methods (e.g. CSM, SAFe).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).

Job Description

Program & Quality Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end test programme for the FX Workspace initiative, ensuring alignment with overall program scope, timelines, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive test strategy tailored to FX Exchange Engineering and the Workspace Program, covering functional, integration, regression, performance, and non-functional testing.
  • Adapt and champion LSEG’s global FX test strategy for this program, ensuring robust coverage of end-to-end business workflows across multiple systems and teams.
  • Own quality governance for the program, including the definition and management of quality gates, entry/exit criteria, and readiness reviews for each release.

Stakeholder Management, Release & Production Sign-off

  • Act as the primary voice of quality for the program, partnering closely with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, and Business stakeholders.
  • Translate complex testing outcomes into clear, business-relevant insights, enabling informed, data-driven decisions on release readiness and risk.
  • Coordinate and manage production sign-offs for major releases, ensuring that all quality, risk, and compliance criteria are met before go-live.
  • Oversee release and environment readiness, collaborating with engineering, operations, and support teams to ensure smooth deployments and post-release validation.
  • Represent the testing function in governance forums, program reviews, and executive-level discussions.

Team Leadership & People Development

  • Lead and inspire a team of 15+ test engineers, creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop team members, building a high-performing, motivated test organisation.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, conduct regular performance and development conversations, and support individual career growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety, and shared ownership of quality across the team and broader engineering community.

Test Strategy, Automation & Engineering Practices

  • Design and maintain a multi-layered test approach, integrating manual, automated, and end-to-end testing to ensure comprehensive coverage of critical FX and Workspace workflows.
  • Partner with automation and development teams to define and evolve the automation strategy, including the use of BDD-style frameworks and reusable test assets.
  • Promote shift-left and shift-right testing practices, integrating quality checks early in the development lifecycle and leveraging production telemetry and observability.
  • Ensure effective use of test tools and platforms (e.g. test management, defect tracking, CI/CD, environment management) to drive efficiency and transparency.

KPIs, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Define, monitor, and drive testing KPIs (e.g. coverage, defect trends, escape rates, cycle time, reliability metrics) to measure quality and team effectiveness.
  • Use data and metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities, continuously refining processes, practices, and tooling.
  • Proactively identify quality risks across the program, influence mitigation plans, and ensure risks are visible and well understood by stakeholders.
  • Champion best practices in test engineering, sharing learnings and improvements across the broader FX Exchange Engineering organisation.

What You Will Bring (Qualifications)

Experience & Domain Expertise

  • Extensive experience 12+ years of experience in software quality assurance or test engineering, with a track record of leading testing for complex, multi-system programmes.
  • Proven people leadership experience 3+ years managing and developing engineering or testing teams.
  • Deep domain knowledge in financial services, ideally with exposure to capital markets, FX trading, or wealth management platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in owning the end-to-end test lifecycle for large-scale programmes in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
