Iron Mountain is seeking a dynamic Data Center Design & Construction Project Manager to join our Iron Mountain Data Centers (IMDC) team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the full project lifecycle delivery of complex new-build and retrofit data center projects in Spain, transforming them into high-performance, revenue-generating facilities. This position is central to our mission of expanding and optimizing our global data center portfolio.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
- Lead and Drive Project Execution: Lead multidisciplinary teams across site assessments, design development, planning approvals, procurement, and on-site construction to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate and Coordinate Stakeholders: Liaise with internal stakeholders—including Operations, Security, and Information and Communications Technology (ICT)—to align technical, safety, scope, and delivery protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure Compliance and Control: Drive project controls, including budget, schedule, risk, and quality, while ensuring compliance with Spanish building regulations, local legislation, and IMDC’s project delivery standards and technical objectives.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive Experience in Mission-Critical Facilities: Numerous years of experience in mission-critical Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, data centers, high-tech labs, or other relevant sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), chillers, Building Management System (BMS), fire protection, and relevant design standards.
- Proven Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects in Spain and the European Union (EU), utilizing tools like Primavera or Microsoft Project for scheduling and cost estimating, and managing contracts (e.g., FIDIC experience is an advantage).
- Formal Education/Certification: A Degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management, or a local equivalent (e.g., Level 5 or 6 engineering qualifications).
