Job Description

The Risk and Safety Advisor role at Marsh Australia involves collaborating with Local Government organizations in Regional South Australia to manage risk, safety, and wellbeing. Key responsibilities include providing advice on civil liability issues, assisting in developing risk management systems, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. The advisor will ensure key deliverables are met and contribute to the risk management culture within Local Government. The role requires face-to-face service delivery and travel within South Australia, along with some out-of-hours work.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of South Australian Work Health & Safety legislation and practices
  • Risk Management expertise and experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 31000
  • Familiarity with the Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI)
  • Knowledge of SA Return to Work Act 2014
  • Relevant auditing qualification or experience
  • Computer literacy in MS Office applications
  • A current SA driver’s license
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1999 and other relevant Acts
  • Understanding of law as it relates to civil liabilities, contracting, common law
  • Understanding of the risks within Local Government
  • Understanding of the range of occupations/tasks/jobs within Local Government
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite and demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly

Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Risk Management Team at Marsh Australia. This role will be based in Regional South Australia (Riverland and Murray Region).

Become a part of a dedicated team that is committed to making a positive impact on the local government organizations we serve. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to collaborate closely with Local Government organizations, providing high-quality service and advice to assist them in meeting the Performance Standards for Self-Insurers and effectively managing Civil Liability risks. You will also have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the risk, safety, and wellbeing of communities and the organizations that support them.

The role includes face to face service delivery to the following scheme members, The role includes face to face service delivery to the following scheme members, Loxton Waikerie Council, Renmark Paringa Council, Berri Barmera Council, Southern Mallee Council, Karoonda East Murray Council and Mid Murray Council.

You will also be required to travel to other areas local government areas within South Australia and there will be some out of hour’s work required.

We will count on you to:

  • Working collaboratively and effectively as a part of the WHS & Risk Team, and partnering with Local Government organisations, to ensure key deliverables are achieved.
  • Providing advice, and risk management assistance, both oral and written to Local Government organisations regarding civil liability issues.
  • Assisting in the development of systems for the management of specific risk management issues in Local Government organisations.
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining effective communication with internal staff, Local Government organisations, other government bodies and private enterprises relevant to Local Government.
  • Raising the profile of risk management as a culture within Local Government.

What you need to have:

  • Sound knowledge of South Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, principles and practices.
  • Risk Management, expertise and experience.
