The Sculptor at Funko will create 3D assets for various product lines exclusively in ZBrush, adhering to the Funko brand aesthetic and rules. The sculptor needs advanced ZBrush proficiency, strong research and communication skills, and a basic understanding of factory limitations and molding processes. They will manage multiple projects with minimal art direction, translating 2D concepts into 3D sculpts.
Must Have
- Create 3D assets using ZBrush with advanced artistic and technical proficiency.
- Solid understanding of Funko brands and form factors.
- Capability to carry a product through the entire production process.
- Strong research and planning skills.
- Strong communication skills to work with multiple teams.
- Basic understanding of molding and figure production.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- 3-5 years of related experience as a Digital Sculptor.
- Excellent ability to interpret 2D concepts and translate them into 3D sculpts.
- Advanced sculpting proficiency in ZBrush.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Photoshop.
- A strong portfolio with varied design styles showcasing organic and hard surface skills.
- Digital Art education or equivalent experience.

Funko Overview:
Funko is a purveyor of pop culture, making and selling license-focused collectibles. We’re based in Everett, WA where we have a store that delights kids of all ages (kids at heart included). We currently hold hundreds of licenses for franchises ranging from Marvel to Harry Potter, giving us the rights to create tens of thousands of characters—one of the largest portfolios in the pop culture and collectibles industry. We take your favorite characters and turn them into adorable, or sometimes scary, collectible figures. Our most famous line, Pop! Vinyl, has millions of fans around the world.
Position Overview:
The Sculptor takes initiative to hone their understanding of the Funko brand esthetic as they work on various product lines. This role generates 3D assets for a variety of product lines exclusively in ZBrush. This job requires daily interaction with other Designers, Sculptors, Packaging Artists and Product Developers to ensure the smooth and efficient production of all Funko toys and collectibles. They need to possess a solid understanding of the Funko rules and stylization when creating their products and will require minimal art direction when doing so. The Sculptor possesses basic understanding of factory limitations and molding process in toy collectible creation. The Sculptor will report to the Sculpting Manager, and they will work together with them to achieve creative and artistic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Solid understanding of the different Funko brands and form factors
- Capability to carry a product all the way through the production process of toys and collectibles across all Funko lines
- Create 3D assets of product using ZBrush with advanced artistic and technical proficiency in the software within a rapid timeline while requiring minimal oversight by art directors and leads
- Strong research and planning skills and the ability to apply these to ongoing Funko projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with a variety of people across multiple teams, including designers and production managers to ensure the quality of product
- Begin to focus on basic understanding of molding and figure production
- Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills and the capability of managing multiple projects simultaneously
