Job Description

This is an intermediate Senior Accountant position at Mashgin, initially focusing on expenses. The role involves performing accounting for key areas like revenue recognition, deferred revenue, lease accounting, and capitalized software development costs. You will collaborate with AR and AP specialists to ensure proper accounting and contribute significantly to the timely and accurate monthly close cycle. Must have:
  • Own the general ledger, ensuring timely recording and accuracy of every balance, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, sales tax, and fixed assets.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and subledgers, ensuring full understanding, validity, and accuracy of amounts.
  • Own the sales tax process, ensuring accurate calculations, timely filings, and implementation of an appropriate sales tax system.
  • Participate in the monthly close process, ensuring adherence to the close schedule.
  • Participate in audits, including annual financial, sales tax, and workers comp.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of a mid-tier financial system.
  • Participate in continuous efforts for process and system improvements.
  • Oversee the procure to pay process.
  • Own the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with 7+ years of experience applying accounting and financial best-practices in a public or private company environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERPs.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, consistency and ability to problem solve and come up with creative solutions with various tools.

Position Summary

This is an intermediate position where you will be initially responsible for the expense side of Mashgin's accounting. As a senior accountant, you will perform accounting for key accounting areas, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, lease accounting, and capitalized software development costs. You will work closely with the accounts receivable specialist and accounts payable specialist to ensure proper revenue accounting is applied to customer transactions and proper GL coding is applied to vendor bills and credit card transactions. You will also be a key contributor to the timely and accurate monthly accounting close cycle. You Will Be

  • Owning the general ledger, ensuring timely recording and accuracy of every balance on the general ledger. Key areas include revenue recognition, deferred revenue, sales tax, and fixed assets at customer sites
  • Owning the balance sheet reconciliations and subledgers, ensuring a full understanding of the detail amounts and the validity and accuracy of the amounts that make up the balances
  • Owning the sales tax process, ensuring accurate sales tax calculations and timely filings. Additionally, you will also be owning the selection and implementation of the appropriate sales tax system to automate sales tax calculation and filing
  • Participating in the monthly close process, ensuring adherence to the close schedule
  • Participating in audits, including annual financial audits, sales tax, and workers comp
  • Participating in the design and implementation of a mid tier financial system
  • Participating in the continuous effort for processes and systems improvements
  • Overseeing the procure to pay process
  • Owning the payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with 7+ years of experience applying accounting and financial best-practices in a public or private company environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERPs
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, consistency and ability to problem solve and come up with creative solutions with various tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with hardware strongly desired
  • Prior experience at a high growth and fast paced company strongly desired
  • 3+ years of management experience
