Job Description

As a Senior Combat Designer at HoYoverse, you'll be a key contributor to their next flagship project, focusing on creating engaging and accessible combat mechanics, scenarios, and characters. Responsibilities include designing player combat mechanics, weapons, and abilities; creating enemy behavior, abilities, and weapons; and working on core player systems like camera, interaction, and traversal. You'll collaborate with various teams, prototype, implement, and polish systems, using playtest data and feedback to refine designs. This role requires at least 5 years of professional experience in combat or game design with a shipped AAA title on PC/Console and strong scripting abilities.

Job Description

As a Senior Combat Designer, you’ll focus on creating mechanics, scenarios and characters that contribute to deep yet accessible combat experiences for the player. You’ll be collaborating with Level Designers, Engineers, Animators and more to prototype, implement and polish all combat-related systems and content for our next flag-ship project. Your typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Player combat mechanics, weapons, and abilities.
  • Enemy behavior, abilities, and weapons.
  • Other core player systems such as camera, interaction, and traversal.
  • Build and refine the design over time using playtest metrics and internal/external feedback.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Combat/Game Designer
  • At least one shipped AAA title on PC/Console
  • Strong hands-on scripting abilities
  • Self-motivated and open-minded
