JOB OVERVIEW
Plan A Technologies is looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of robust, on-premises data warehouse (DWH) solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PostgreSQL, ETL processes utilizing Apache Airflow and DBT, and big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop. Experience with cloud platforms like Snowflake or Databricks is a plus.
Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Design, develop, and maintain complex on-premises data warehouse architectures, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
Implement and manage ETL workflows using Apache Airflow and DBT for real-time data integration, ingestion, and migration.
Utilize big data technologies, including Apache Spark and Hadoop, to process and analyze large datasets efficiently.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through the implementation of robust data validation and quality checks.
Design efficient and scalable database schemas and relationships to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
Maintain and optimize relational and NoSQL databases for performance and scalability.
Stay abreast of data privacy, compliance, and security best practices, ensuring all solutions adhere to relevant regulations.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and architects.
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Architect and 7-10 years as a Data Engineer.
Proven experience in implementing complex data warehouse solutions, particularly on-premises.
Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL and experience with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow and DBT.
Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Apache Spark and Hadoop.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks is a plus.
Deep understanding of data privacy, compliance, and security best practices.
Ability to design efficient and scalable database schemas and relationships.
Proficiency in structuring, optimizing, and maintaining both relational and NoSQL databases.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Good communication skills, and the ability to talk with technical, non-technical resources, as well as management
Be flexible to change, and willing to adapt to the client and team needs
Ability to work with engineers in multiple countries
Must have an organized and analytical working style, and the ability to plan your own work
Initiative and drive to do great things
Experience with cloud providers such as Oracle, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
Certifications in relevant technologies or platforms are advantageous.
