Job Description

The Senior Director of Corporate Communications will oversee public relations activities to promote the company with an emphasis on its global commodities products: energy, metals and agriculture. This position will work with senior management, product marketing and the broader corporate marketing and communications team to develop positioning strategies globally. Key responsibilities include leading messaging and media relations for commodities, coordinating PR strategies, ensuring consistent communications, managing media relations including crisis management, overseeing staff, providing executive guidance, serving as company spokesperson, and developing media pitches.
Must Have:

  • Collaborate across all communications channels to help shape perceptions of customers, prospects, press/bloggers, and analysts.
  • Coordinate with business teams to develop public relations strategies for commodities.
  • Ensure all internal and external communications are consistent and aligned with business objectives.
  • Play a key role in all media relations initiatives, including crisis and issues management.
  • Oversee small staff and possible agency assignments.
  • Provide guidance to executives on communications training, story lines, and media strategy.
  • Advise corporate executives and product team members on best way to communicate major corporate news.
  • Serve as company spokesperson; build and maintain strong relations with key beat reporters worldwide.
  • Create and contribute to message development initiatives.
  • Write and distribute press releases; identify story lines and trends; develop and extend media pitches.

This position will oversee public relations activities to promote the company with an emphasis on its global commodities products: energy, metals and agriculture. This position will work with senior management, product marketing and the broader corporate marketing and communications team in North America, Europe and Asia to develop positioning strategies globally.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Lead messaging and media relations for the company's commodities business globally.
  • Collaborate across all communications channels to help the company shape the perceptions of customers, prospects, press/bloggers, and analysts within business, commodities, and public policy communities domestically and internationally.
  • Coordinate with all energy, agricultural commodity and metals business teams to develop public relations strategies, including materials, budgets and resource allocation to promote the company's commodities businesses.
  • Ensure that all internal and external communications are consistent and external image is aligned closely with the company's business objectives, playing a key role in all media relations initiatives including crisis and issues management.
  • Oversee small staff and possible agency assignments. Collaborate with other marketing and communications teams and partners of the exchange including internal, events, broadcast and corporate and product marketing groups to implement comprehensive promotional strategies and measure their effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance to executives with regard to communications training, story lines and media strategy with top-tier press, bloggers and analysts. Advise corporate executives and product team members on best way to communicate major corporate news (social media, product launches, geographic expansions, etc.)
  • Serve as company spokesperson; build and maintain strong relations with key beat reporters worldwide; create and contribute to message development initiatives
  • Write and distribute press releases; identify story lines and trends; develop and extend media pitches

The pay range for this role is $148,800-$248,000. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
