Job Summary
Kwalee is seeking a Senior Playable Ads Developer to join their Creative team in Leamington Spa. This role involves leading the development and maintenance of 2D and 3D playable ads using Cocos Creator v3.x, setting technical standards, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating with artists, designers, and User Acquisition teams. The goal is to achieve industry-leading engagement and performance for marketing campaigns, contributing directly to the company's profitability.
Must Have
- Lead development and maintenance of 2D and 3D playable ads using Cocos Creator v3.x and modern browser-based game engines.
- Define, implement, and maintain key methodologies and reusable systems to optimize production workflows.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to mid-level developers.
- Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and User Acquisition (UA) teams.
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and pipeline improvements for playable ad development.
- Ensure rigorous standards for documentation, performance testing, and QA processes.
- Integrate and optimize playable ads with various ad-network wrappers, including MRAID.
- 5+ years of professional experience in game development or interactive web experiences, with emphasis on playable advertisements.
- Demonstrated expertise in building performant and scalable 2D and 3D playable ads using Cocos Creator (v3.x preferred), JavaScript, and HTML5.
- Direct experience exporting playable ad builds specifically optimized for major ad networks (Unity WebGL, Applovin, IronSource, Mintegral).
- Strong understanding and practical experience with integrating MRAID or other ad-network SDKs/wrappers.
- Track record of successfully optimizing playable ad builds to adhere to strict size constraints (e.g., 3-5 MB).
- Proven mentorship skills and ability to technically lead, guide, and inspire a development team.
- Strong understanding of key ad performance metrics (e.g., CTR, IPM, CVR).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to code quality, detail, and robust implementation.

- Experience with C++.
- Experience with Unity game development.

As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Senior Playable Ads Developer to join our Creative team.
As a Senior Playable Ads Developer you will drive technical quality and consistency across all playable projects. You will set standards, mentor team members, and solve complex development challenges to support our performance marketing goals.
This is a permanent role based in our Leamington Spa studio, where our daily in-office collaboration fuels creativity and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and maintenance of top-tier 2D and 3D playable ads, primarily using Cocos Creator v3.x and other modern browser-based game engines, to achieve industry-leading engagement and performance benchmarks.
- Define, implement, and maintain key methodologies and reusable systems to optimize production workflows and ensure efficient, high-quality playable ad delivery.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to mid-level developers, fostering skill growth and collaborative problem-solving within the team.
- Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and User Acquisition (UA) teams to translate creative visions into highly effective and technically sound playable ad experiences.
