Job Summary
4A Games is looking for a Senior Procedural Environment Artist specializing in Houdini or similar tools. This role involves creating layouts, populating game worlds with existing assets, and developing procedural tools for dynamic environments. The artist will collaborate with Game Design, Level Design, and Art teams, adhering to production schedules and artistic vision.
Must Have
- Work closely with artists, tech artists and game designers to develop and implement systems to generate environments, effects and asset population procedurally using software like Houdini, Geometry Nodes, etc.
- Work with artists and tech artists to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and integrate procedural tools into the existing pipeline.
- Proactively identify environment art related issues, propose solutions and document processes and tools.
- Provide support for procedural content and staff training.
- Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines, processes, and workflows.
- Perform quick research for shapes and environments.
- 3+ years of experience in game development and modelling.
- Strong experience with any procedural creation software, with a preference for Houdini.
- Strong understanding and sense of graphical shape, form, and silhouette.
- Experience in Python or similar scripting tools.
- Knowledge of engine tooling and automation.
- Knowledge of real-time rendering engines, resource limits, and optimization.
- Experience with large asset authoring.
- Ability to work with organic structures.
- Ability to work with complex layouts.
- Able to work creatively as part of a large or small group.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of modern AAA pipelines.
Good to Have
- Technical or art education.
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal, Unity, etc.
- Knowledge of additional software is a plus (SpeedTree, Zbrush, Blender, etc.).
- Knowledge of open-world creation and open-world games are a plus.
- Experience with shader and material graphs is a plus.
- Experience with tech art related topics is a plus.

The successful candidate will create layouts and work with existing assets to fill the game world, crafting procedural tools, putting together dynamic environments. The candidate will also follow the production schedule and the chosen artistic view, as well as work closely with our Game Design, Level Design, and Art teams.
