About the role
We are currently seeking a Senior Product Manager for our Products, Platforms & Solutions Department. This department meet the needs of researchers through products that include Springer Nature Link, Nature.com and new Solutions for the research community.
This Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the holistic unified Customer Experience (CX) products for China market, designing, orchestrating the roadmap and delivering this experience that aligned with the local & global product strategy. This role will work closely with the local and global product, technology and other business area teams to create and manage the roadmap to meet the local needs and hit the top line targets in China market.
This role will be both a strong individual contributor and team leader with the ability and desire to simultaneously think strategically, translate strategies to tactics and actions, and effectively execute on plans.
Role Responsibilities
Drive SN Product China Strategy:
- Understand China’s market, trends, as well as the institutional landscape that could impact current and future researcher platform needs (content consumption, author presubmission, solutions)
- Understand and navigate the local regulatory and legal landscape within which an international publishers like SN need to operate
- Design and drive differentiated product strategies and service offerings that showcase Springer Nature as a top platform in China
Drive Platform Growth:
- Lead the shaping and selling of Springer Nature Platform Services to meet local China needs
- Shape compelling and profitable proposals to drive growth against platform KPIs
- Partner with local and global SN Product Groups and lead the creation of pathways for new service and product opportunities, include leveraging emerging AI technologies to identify opportunities that innovate or reimagine existing CX workflows, ensuring AI-driven solutions align with user needs and business goals
Deliver Undeniable Value:
- Understand what success means and ensure that the value being delivered is explicit, and well understood by the stakeholders
- Deliver suitable local integration of SN platforms / products / CX with the widely used local tech stack of China
- Orchestrate across a multi-disciplinary team to create a unified strategy that drives customer and business value across online and offline touchpoints
- Own the product backlog and constantly evolve it based on the latest changes in the business
- Constantly measure the success of products you own to ensure the team is on the right track to deliver value to the customers and the business
Role Requirements
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience (8+ years) in Leadership, Product, Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum), OKRs, rapid prototyping and working with local and foreign teams to deliver relevant customer products
- Experience working in fast paced organisations, managing uncertainty and balancing thinking strategically but also focusing on the detail to deliver tangible customer value
- Experience working in China helping drive collaboration between local teams in China and global SN teams to deliver ambitious growth targets
- Prior publishing experience is not required but will be a plus
- Prior experience working in regulated industries is not required but will be a plus
Skills & Qualifications:
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail while delivering against tight deadlines
- Excellent English language and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully across all levels of the business (written and verbal)
- Deep understanding of emerging AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, AI-powered personalization, predictive user behaviour analytics) and a proven track record of translating AI capabilities into actional CX innovations
- Highly collaborative and able to identify and able to cultivate healthy team dynamics, course correcting as necessary
- Customer obsessed, very experienced in talking to customers and using data and customer feedback to drive best in class customer experiences and product strategy
- Proven success in meeting product goals including quantitative, qualitative and commercial measures
- Demonstrable experience of managing products at different stages of the product lifecycle from inception to retirement
- Expert in stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, able to facilitate timely decision making
- Highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility and character
- BA / BS / BE or equivalent degree
