Job Summary
Technicon Design Sweden is seeking an experienced exterior studio engineer in Gothenburg to act as the voice of design within engineering. This role involves ensuring design intent is realized while meeting technical and legislative requirements, bridging design and engineering to translate requirements into innovative and feasible lighting solutions for automotive applications. The engineer will develop new lighting concepts, benchmark competitors, and manage agreements between teams.
Must Have
- Serve as the primary liaison between design and engineering teams.
- Translate engineering and legislative requirements into design possibilities.
- Document feasibility of design themes and raise critical issues.
- Develop new lighting concepts using Catia V5 and optical software.
- Benchmark competitor lighting solutions to secure competitive designs.
- Conduct technology scouting and organize presentations/workshops.
- Stay updated on manufacturing methods and technologies.
- Support development of physical lamp prototypes for concept validation.
- Manage and document agreements between design and engineering teams.
- Technical university degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years in the automotive industry with extensive lamp concept engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of lamp technology, engineering principles, and legal requirements.
- Strong understanding of vehicle development processes.
- Automotive lighting concept and component design experience (interior & exterior).
- Proficiency in Catia V5 (Solid & Surface modeling) and Teamcenter (Author level).
- Familiarity with component manufacturing, tooling requirements, and lead times.
- Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently or lead cross-functional teams.
- Highly effective and productive with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to travel internationally and obtain necessary visas.
- Fluency in English.
Good to Have
- Experience working in a design studio is highly merited.
- Fluency in Mandarin is an advantage.

Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Technical university degree or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in the automotive industry with extensive lamp concept engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of lamp technology, engineering principles, and legal requirements.
- Strong understanding of vehicle development processes.
- Automotive lighting concept and component design experience (interior & exterior).
- Proficiency in Catia V5 (Solid & Surface modeling) and Teamcenter (Author level).
- Experience with optical software (SPEOS, Lucidshape, LightTools preferred).
- Familiarity with component manufacturing, tooling requirements, and lead times.
- Experience working in a design studio is highly merited.
- Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
