Job Summary

As a System Development Engineering Manager at Thales in Elancourt, France, you will lead and coordinate system engineering activities for a defined optronic product within the Air Optronics Development Directorate. Your main missions include overseeing design, development, validation, and qualification, managing resources, liaising with internal and external partners, and ensuring project objectives are met within deadlines, cost, and quality standards. You will also maintain project documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Your daily life

At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of Thales's most important technological centers of excellence. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.

Within the Optronics and Missile Electronics (OME) entity, you will join the Air Optronics Development Directorate (DDAO) of the Air Optronics Sector (SAO), whose scope covers all product development and production programs for the French and Export markets.

As a System Engineering Work Package Manager for a defined product, your main missions are:

  • To pilot and coordinate System Engineering activities: design, development, validation, and qualification
  • To identify the resources and skills required to carry out the work and meet milestones
  • To ensure the interface with internal and external partners
  • To meet the department's objectives by respecting deadlines, costs, and quality
  • To maintain the project repository and ensure regular reporting on technical and financial aspects
  • To deploy engineering initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement

Your profile

A graduate of higher education, you have at least 10 years of experience, particularly in the following skills:

  • Management of engineering activities on complex systems: system, sub-assembly, and specialties
  • Optimization and monitoring of a development strategy while taking into account needs and constraints
  • Optronic knowledge: optics, electronics, servomechanisms, mechanical imaging
  • Knowledge of configuration management rules

You will join an experienced team – approximately 12 people – which manages projects for multiple clients/countries around an optronic product mounted on the RAFALE, enabling threat detection.
