Motorola Solutions is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer Intern for Summer 2026. Interns will assist Systems Engineers in designing mission-critical radio communication solutions, consulting with customers, and developing technical strategies. This involves coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, system architecture design, and equipment selection. The role focuses on developing students for full-time system engineering positions, with senior engineers supporting intern development and fostering collaborative learning.

Must Have

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred emphasis in Wireless, Electrical, System or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science)
  • Anticipated graduation date during or after December 2026
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely

Good to Have

  • Experience working with customers
  • Experience/Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking
  • Experience/Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
  • Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/or Amateur Radio/HAM

Job Description

Motorola Solutions Inc. internship students assist Systems Engineers in all aspects of their work. Interns start out with the basics with small project assignments and gradually build up to larger projects with more responsibilities. Our goal for our student program is to develop excellent candidates for full time system engineering positions upon graduation.

Our Interns design mission-critical radio communication solutions by consulting with the customer to determine their needs. In cooperation with the sales, product development, and project management teams, they develop technical strategies and generate proposals for customers. This involves coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, design of system architecture, equipment selection, proposal generation, and presenting the proposed solutions to customers.

You will also work to ensure that our sales professionals and customers are kept up to date on the latest Motorola technology offerings and their relevance to customer needs. Our Senior Systems Engineers support intern development to enhance both individual and group competencies fostering a collaborative learning experience.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree; preferred emphasis in Wireless, Electrical, System or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Target Hourly Base Pay Range: $20.00-$30.00 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
